Gijy

Gijy are the offspring of Human and Ruridai. They are rare in the world. The word is derived from Gijymo in Fybai, meaning miracle. As two separate descendants of of the one ancestor, Ruridai and Humans are able to breed, though generally the child is born distinctly Human or Ruridai, with a Gijy very rarely being conceived and successfully delivered . This is why Gijy are so scarce in the world. In many places throughout Elyara, the Gijy are seen as an abomination, a dirty hybrid of two species that should never have come to exist. In other places, they are seen as examples of the unity this world can achieve. The Gijy are the sole species of which some members are able to interact with the mysterious Riya Octopus.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Much like Humans and Ruridai, the Gijy are a bipedal species, with two arms on either side of their torso.

Genetics and Reproduction

The Gijy are able to fall pregnant to a Human, a Ruridai, or even another Gijy. Assuming both of the parents are Gijy, the child will be too. If a Gijy mates with either a Human or a Ruridai, the child will be of that species. Unlike Humans and Ruridai, the pregnancy only lasts around three months. During the pregnancy, it is often hard to see whether the woman is pregnant, as they do not display a bump as humans do.

Growth Rate & Stages

When the infant is born, it is tiny, less than a quarter of the size of a baby human. After its birth, with much feeding and care, the child will grow rapidly over the course of about a month. By the end of this month, the infant will be roughly the same size as a human baby at birth. From this point, growth and aging match that of a human, until around 10 years old, when certain abilities and capabilities start to to manifest.

History

The first known Gijy to be born into Quilela was four years after the initial Wumirru invasion, to a Ruridai who had become part of a Noble invaders harem. Believing (like the rest of the world at the time) that a Human could not impregnate a Ruridai, the invader was shocked and stunned. The mother herself was as stunned as any, believing the same as he. Other women in the harem had birthed him children, but he paid them know heed, as they were all human. But this. This was different. Never before had anyone seen such a thing.
