Water Elemental

"Water elementals, see, they're not like fire or air. Fire wants to burn you, air just wants to blow your hat off, but water? Water wants to wear you down. It doesn't shout, it doesn't rage. It whispers 'I'll get there in the end.' And it does. Always."
— A summoner, on water elementals

Greet the Shore

Water elementals are the essence of motion, ancient beings shaped by the tides and currents of the world. They are not water given life but life given the endless form of water. They are something primal, a body that glows without boundary, shifting between a clear pool, a crashing wave, and the faint shimmer of mist on the breeze.   They dwell in places where water gathers power; deep in the ocean's trenches, at the mouths of roaring rivers, or within the still, silent lakes that hold the reflection of the sky. Their presence is not announced by sound or fury but by the unmistakable sense that the water around you is watching. Listening. Remembering.   They know the weight of drowned cities, the songs of the whales, and the ancient truths whispered to the shores. They speak in the language of ripples and tides, their voices soft yet insistent, impossible to ignore. To call upon one is to invite not just its presence but the vast, unfathomable memory of water itself - an overwhelming flood of sights, sounds, and emotions that can drown a mortal mind.

Beat the Waves

Unlike their fiery or earten kin, water elementals are neither easily angered nor easily pleased. They are patient, for water is a force that erodes mountains over centuries. Yet, their patience does not mean they are safe. A water elemental does not rage; it envelops. It does not strike; it surrounds. Its wrath is not a momentary flare but a slow, inevitable rising tide.   Legends tell of ships lost to elementals, of sailors who dared to cross waters sacred to them. But there are also tales of those spared, given calm seas and favourable currents, because they sang to the waves or left offerings on the shore.   They are what they are: the lifeblood of the earth, the shaper of coasts, the bring of storms and the quencher of fire. To bargain with one is to step into the current and hope you can keep your footing, for they will always flow to where they wish to be, and nothing - not even stone - can hold them back for long.
