The Laws of Prominence
The planet is much larger than ours and takes a long time to traverse. Sailing the oceans is not impossible, but it is a feat that takes great strength and determination as the seas are vast. The same goes for land as well. At a stretch, most territory can be managed by horseback, but it can take several months to travel from one end of a continent to the other.
The calendar days are set to 877, which means seasons are rather long affairs. The night sky is often full of wonders, spectacles that seem common place to most of the inhabitants of Prominence.
Cosmology
The world of Prominence came to be after the now dead goddess, Athrune, brought it into being. Shortly afterward, she died and the world was populated by the races created by her sister, Vrol. Then Vrol left the planet up to its own devices and it's uncertain whether the goddess will ever return.
Principal Geography & Features
The world is a super earth and because of this it takes a long time to physically travel to places. There are a lot of isolated pockets of people. There should be plenty of room for everyone, and there are a ton of resources available, but there are inherent dangers in growing a population. The oceans are also quite vast and this makes traveling anywhere for long stretches of time quite difficult. Despite the abundance, there are still large groups of have-nots like the Soan and the Optan. One geographical feature that is a constant throughout the world are the magical stones called bide stones. They allow for the transmission of certain messages across vast distances, but they are more than they seem and interactions with these stones almost always comes at a price to the user.
Initial Active Setting
The initial setting is just the Venetan peninsula, for the novel that I'm writing. For the D&D game, we're playing on the Ordan peninsula which is much smaller.
