Flynn Bastion
Flynn Bastion is an amber-haired Dwarf with eyes of the deepest brown. Though his decades of battles have weighed upon his soul, he has decided to begin a new chapter in his life. When he was a wee lad, his mother would regale him in the tales of the time before the collapse. He would sit cross-legged, his chin bare of any hair, listening to his mother’s natural story-telling skills. His mother had a habit of re-telling the same tales ad nauseum while cooking him dinner. He loved those moments with her. His village, Itherun, was merely a speck on a cartographer’s map. It laid just west of the settlement of Onyx. Itherun now is a pile of rubble that has been scavenged by ne'er-do-wells. This isn't abnormal for towns in The Scarlands. After moving to the settlement of Onyx, Flynn began to train as a fierce combatant. The way of mercenaries became all that he knew and to him, gold was of higher importance than people’s lives.
On one such mercenary mission, he and his comrades were commissioned to protect a nobleman of Onyx and his daughter. Through their trek across the Crimson Wastes, they approached a small village that had succumbed to a sandstorm. Men, women, and children were begging for help from the moving caravan. The nobleman told his mercenaries to ignore them and keep driving. One unlucky soul even got trampled by the carriage wheels.
That was his last mission and he has sought guidance through diviners, fortune tellers, and priests across Eos. The Church of Ilmater quickly became Flynn’s calling. The Church of Ilmater is a widespread religion on Eos and is often associated with charitable acts. The God, Ilmater, encourages compassion and helps those that suffer. Flynn can never make up for his past transgressions, he can share his wisdom of Ilmater and spread the words of peace and diplomacy.
The Beached Dwarf
Holding dearly to a piece of driftwood with Hildegarde Ermintrude Glittergem Sallywiddy Flonk of clan Gebbens, Flynn encourages the small Gnome to "just keep kickin' little lady." He and the other survivors from the crashed ship, known as the Merryweather, began to seek shelter on the island. They were assisted by a Firbolg man named Kozik, who offered shelter in a cave just off the beach path. Soon we were able to secure a ship from some ragamuffins on the island and set sail for adventure.Goblin in a Barrel
Upon entering the hold of the newly acquired ship, the Stormborne Company discovered a hideaway stashed in the belly of the ship. He introduced himself as Gobsmash. Flynn took an immediate liking to this bullied goblin man and began a mentorship with Gobsmash to teach him the art of cooking. Skipping ahead in the story a bit, Gobsmash always took a liking to Hildegarde Ermintrude Glittergem Sallywiddy Flonk of clan Gebbens. After her death, Gobsmash blamed Deshausee Stormborne for her demise, to which Deshausee Stormborne loosed an arrow in his chest. This caused a schism in the organization. After a failed apology meeting between the two of them Gobsmash left the group.Eyeless Capture
A surprise ambush by the Inquisitors caught the Stormborne Company off guard. We fought bravely against the anti-spellcasting brigade, but it was clear that escape was our best option. Using our magical rings that allowed us to teleport via wardrobes, each party member began to make their way to the ship. Flynn was the last one to go and was knocked unconscious by the Inquisitors. Inside the prison, he was interrogated about the party's plan to break into this prison. Flynn was given a choice to lose an eye or to lose a hand before he can be released back to his cell. Flynn chose to lose his eye.Run-in with the Riders
After wishing his friend Gobsmash goodbye and leaving his chef medal with him, Flynn has a surprising encounter with his old mercenary company, The Obsidian Riders. The leader of it, known as The Grey Wolf, gives Flynn a hard time for leaving the company saying that "The Riders' Oath is for life" and that they do not look well on deserters. Flynn agrees to keep things cool with the mercenary company while they are present in West Hold.Future Plans
Flynn wants to continue to spread the good word of the Church of Ilmater as well as learn more about the plans of The Obsidian Riders.Relationships
