Toliman Prime

Toliman Prime is the only inhabitable planet orbiting Toliman. It is slightly smaller than Earth, with a surface gravity of about 0.7 g. While the habitability of Toliman Prime had been know since the days of uncrewed exploration, it was only colonized in the era of Medusa Drive interstellar travel. Since it is orbiting another star of the binary, travel between Toliman Prime and the colonies on Kent Prime and Sharov's World would have been too difficult before the shortened interstellar travel times led to a boom in the colonies, bringing with it the necessary infrastructure.

Geography

Of all the habitable planets, Toliman Prime has the smallest oceans. Its surface is mostly land, dotted with bodies of water no larger than the Caspian Sea on Earth. This does not mean it is dry, however. Due to the proximity to its star, the planet is quite warm and the water quickly evaporates. Heavy rains wash over the land daily, but most of it does not make it to the sea. Besides delivering plenty of moisture to all parts of the planet, this accelerated water cycle leads to increased erosion. Toliman Prime's mountains are smaller than those of other planets, and spectacular valleys are carved into them by water runoff.

Ecosystem

Toliman Prime is the only place, where extraterrestrial life is really visible. It exists on Kent Prime and Sharov's world, too, there however it is mostly confined to the oceans. Not so on Toliman Prime: Photosynthesizing organisms similar to single celled algea on Earth thrive in the humid climate and cover most of the planet in a vibrant green film. It has earned the planet the nickname of "Green Marble". The presence of unknown, potentially dangerous organisms was a big concern before the first colonization efforts, rigorous testing by scientific expeditions could dispel these worries, though. It turned out, in fact, that these so called Xenophytes, or "phytes" in colloquial use, were not only quite nutritious, but quite tasty as well.
