New Baikonur

New Baikonur is famous as the largest city not on Earth. It was originally established by the UN Space Committee as their Mars headquarter. As the first off world settlement not belonging to a nation state or corporation, it drew in many immigrants and rapidly grew. In addition, as neutral ground it became a popular location for diplomatic occasions as well as for the headquarters of NGOs, most notably the New Worlds Foundation.
New Baikonur is unlike in appearance to cities built on habitable planets. Its skyline is dominated by massive transparents domes, which create an approximation of an open living space for the inhabitants. The outskirts of the city, where no such domes have been built yet, are a sprawl of smaller mostly spherical buildings, which are interconnected by a maze of pipes and tunnels.
