Kingdom of Kélaria

Colonial Empire ruled primarily by the Ar-Tabourdet dynasty, formerly active in Eiðmorall , Sanarra and Taengitania.

The Kingdom of Kélaria (Eskélarian: Reigann de Kélarie) , also known as the Kélarian Empire or simply as Kélaria, was the Empire ruled primarily by the Ar-Tabourdet dynasty, which established hegemony over Kélaria Minor, the Sanarran and Taengitanian Colonies and, to a lesser extent, Severmark, starting from 105 BVK. It encompassed Kélaria Major and minor, those being the southernmost territories of the Eiðmorall Ring, the four provinces of Severmark in the north of the Ring as well as Sanarra in South Ilfradiouna and Taengitania in central Aerusia. Kélaria Major bordered Lekhisjóða on the north-west, the Sea of Kélar to the North, Byzetra to the South and Kélaria Minor to the South-West.   The nation's earliest history began around 2100 BVK when settlers and traders established their livelihoods along the coast of the Sea of Kélar, which had been formed several millennia earlier during the Great Collapse of Eiðmorall. These settlements would in 1283 BVK, under the leadership of Chief-Baron Theuderic the Fickle and his counterpart from eastern Kélaria Major, Clannoîs Faro I, form an alliance and trade league known as the Free Cities of Chaelaârie. Both noble houses agreed to alternate between heirs to the throne and to establish a unifying, central spiritual-religious authority in the city of Ar-Môal next to the river N'Hylann. Theuderic's grandson, Isembart I, in 1190 BVK, proclaimed official religious worship of the Gospel of Cyhin of Séra, renaming the city of Ar-Môal to Kél-Sérandor.   In 843 BVK, the Free Cities of Chaelaârie were absorbed by the Bråtaberg Kingdoms of Opezh and Elnaâra from Lekhisjóða. Religious differences and clashes between Cyhinists and Lekhisjóðan Tryggkirrians led to a Civil War between 829-810 BVK, after which radical anti-Lekhisjóðan leader Konvarch I the Fierce ousted Bråtabergish rule and ordered the constructions of the fort-cities of Amboîsset, Sanct-Garinfreid and Mâhaut as defensive measures near the Coast of the Sea of Kélar and the Leshkara Region. During the next half-millennium, the new Sovereignty of Kaelârie-Cyhinna expanded southwards to the Rôesian Sea and westwards into what is now Kélaria Minor. In 447 BVK, the hitherto independent Kingdom of Clannoisie was annexed under the terms of the Treaty of Westvastell.   Under Âsceleniass III, the Sovereignty of Kaelârie-Cyhinna became the Kingdom of Kélaria in 276 BVK. The absolute authority of the Cyhinist Church was diminished, yet remained strongly affluent. Moreover, the first secondary administrative body next to the Royalty was established, under the name of the "Royal Advisory of Delegates" in 268 BVK. It would later evolve to become the Kélarian Royal Assembly and Imperial Senate. The capital was furthermore changed from Sanct-Cyhin to Kél-Sérandor, which was renamed yet again to Grand Sérandour.   The modern state of Kélaria had maintained small overseas colonial territories since the late Âscelénian Era (302-257 BVK), yet didn't become expansionist until the ascension to the throne of King Rëmael IV in 112 BVK and most notably during the reign of Rëmael's son, Bénardin III. They belonged to the Ar-Tabourdet aristocracy, whose reign had been restored in 168 BVK following a referendum among the nobility and bourgeoisie. This event, and the repression of republican activists is known as the Ar-Tabourdet restoration.   In 105 BVK, Rëmael IV began the consolidation and expansion of the Kélarian Colonies in Sanarra and Taengitania to boost international raw material trade and establish the Kingdom's presence as a strong colonial power. In Kélaria itself, this period of Colonial Expansion became known as the "Sojourn to the South", with a lot of the support stemming from the Kélarian radical right which justified any colonial violence on the grounds of ethnic and cultural purity and furthering civilisation. The perhaps most famous of battles fought in the context of the Southern Séjourn was the Skirmish at Kassamazin, Sanarra, in August 77 BVK, during which Crown Prince Bénardin was wounded in the shoulder.   The case of Severmark is wholly different, however. Severmark, and thus the rest of the Eiðmorall Ring came under Kélarian control in 144 BVK during the reign of Rëmael IV's father, Ancelet I. The Vassalage of Severmark under Kélaria will be treated in a separate article which will be linked here.

History

Successor Nation to the Sovereignty of Kaelârie-Cyhinna. Royal Charter of the new Kingdom of Kélaria signed and sealed by King Âsceleniass III in 276 BVK. After the Ar-Tabourdet Restoration in 168 BVK, Kélaria sought greater imperial commitments and expanded its reach. Severmarkish Independence movements and the quick-tempered reign of former Prince, then King Cyran I resulted in a conflict which spiralled into War. The War concluded in Armistice and de facto defeat of Kélaria after fifteen years of terror in all of the Eiðmorall Ring.
