Many different jobs in the city are based around these creature, like Snail chaser who collect the mucus for glass, the breeders who risk their lives by trying to care for this highly aggressive species and domesticate it or even the bloodless butchers, who specialize in killing Snails who are to wild or old and do so without damaging their valuable parts. Because of that the city has an abundance of Spellbreaker shields, fire resistance potions, elixirs of health, potions of climbing and robes of scintillating colors, and snail flails. Because they have such a specialized economy they tend to be short on many other essentials, so Carathur makes a good goal for many traders who manage to actually “sells” their ware to these domineering people. They are also infamous as the city of adventurers and raiders. During times of need the tend to fall back on waging war to procure the needed resources. Their hardy and good equipped Army makes them a scary opponent, especially for magically focused Union. Many communities have long since left the lands surrounding Carathur but that only causes them to look further. Nowadays they are often hired as mercenaries against the monster and dangers of the Ashen woods woods and the Northern Hinterlands, if only to not make them revert to banditism. Thanks to the many means they possess natural barriers are almost inconsequential to them and they not only raid for resources but also for slaves. Slavery is a common thing in carathur though most are subjugated monstrous races and less often the prominent sentient races, especially human and dwarves are captured seldom to not needlessly occur more wrath from the greater powers of salvos, though Carathur doesn´t fear all out conflict.
