Primordian (Pri-Morhd-Ee-an)

Found close to a lake, a collection of pelts draped over tents with puffs of smoke emanating from structures could be seen, and the pioneers were awe-struck to see a variant of early humans, along with several pets living on Primordia, their huts nomadic in nature, as settling down in a world such as this would be close to impossible.   One of the few creatures in Primordia who seem to possess an immense amount of intelligence, these "Primordians," as some have nicknamed them, have shown to possess knowledge in building structures, expressing themselves through art (such as cave paintings,) fabricating tools, and advanced social behavior.   On top of this, Primordians possess a unique ability that average humans do not, the "pets," that were originally to have been believed, are actually symbiotic beings akin to that of a familiar. A significant amount of time was spent on Primordia learning of these animals, and their relationship to the Primordians, it wasn't long until they were officially dubbed "Familiars," partaking in the study.   Primordians, and their familiars live day-to-day lives, these familiars are often soley dedicated to their host, and can be any animal the Primordian seems drawn to, and more often than not, are a reflection of themselves, those that are large and formidable have an equally as large, and formidable familiar, like that of a whooly rhino, and those that are quick and nimble may have a familiar that shows those traits as well, such as a deinonychus.   Amidst this study, travelling far and wide, seeing many cultures and people on Primordia, the deaths of these familiars are what truly caused the researchers emotional discomfort, as a Primordian's familiar dies, the Primordian will undergo an intense emotional trauma, as the Primordian's grief will be so intense, that after roughly a day, they will die from Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, AKA Broken Heart Syndrome, showing just how deep the bond is between these Primordians, and the animals they live among are.   Primordians will only receive one familiar in their lifetime, as well as the animal's. The animal will undergo this grieving process as well, and also resulting in death from the familiar, if their host Primordian dies. If either of these hosts are in a life or death situation, such as being hunted, or in a tribal skirmish, the familiar or Primordian will go berserk if the other dies, and attack at anyone, or anything they believe responsible for the action, before entering a state of intense emotional stress and grief.   When a Primordian chooses their familiar, said Primordian, or along with their family will set up a ritual including body paint, torches, and an alter with a tribute of food in an impressive display to attract the animal the Primordian felt a connection to. The Primordian will have body and face paint that reflects their tribe, and affectionately, the color of the paint may be what their familiar likes. This ritual may also result in the possibility of the Primordian's death, so there is a noticeable sense of anxiety during these rituals, amidst the excitement.   During the ritual, a lot of waiting was seen. As the Primordian will often be seen sitting or kneeling behind the tribute of food, and as their animal familiar arrives, they will continue to sit, not moving as the animal eats, getting the animal to familiarize itself with the presence of their Primordian host, if it goes well, the animal may begin to follow their Primordian, or; The Primordian may follow the animal for a while before the animal begins following their Primordian. In some cases, the animal ate the Primordian.   This connection and bond is universal for Primordians, the ritual, as well as the process of finding one's familiar varies across the many tribes on Primordia, but the bonding process more or less remains the same.   In terms of the various tribes, and cultures of the Primordians, there is an overwhelming amount, that if they were all listed here, it would take days to read them all, as the information that the Pioneers had collected is overwhelming.
