Session 65: Puppet Master Report

General Summary

The session began with the party continuing their discussions from the last session, and what side to take. They seemed to be leaning most towards helping the Rust Monsters, but Arten Veronica Lagurdo believed they should pick a side between the High Houses of Niduin.
They then took a rest before heading to speak with Leodan Luthinen.
Speaking with Leodan, they met Oda Nobunaga, Takemura Yoshiro's master, and Omen ei' Taure cast a spell to see if it was a fake but found nothing. Then, Baradin Godchosen cast a Trueseeing, which allowed him to see that Oda Nobunaga took a form of a dark metallic liquid. Questioning Leodan about this, they learned it was a copy made from Takemura's memories. Saying this was not their deal, eventually led to a fight, with Leodan being aided by copies of powerful people that members of the party knew. The three were copies of Kavesh, Morai, and Elanor Highill
During the fight, Leodan seemed difficult to hit, using a quarterstaff to repeatedly block attempts to strike him. In addition, he cast a powerful cleric spell to further make him and his allies challenging to hit.
Early on, Baradin used a powerful Maze spell to remove Kavesh from the fight, as Omen seemed distraught at even the thought of fighting his master and Nitt placed a Stinking Cloud to try to stop the copies of Morai and Elanor Highill from getting vision into the room, however, it seemed ineffective. While Arten, Omen, Maro Rei 'Sky', and Takemura focused on ending the copy of Oda Nobunaga. Baradin, Eldon, and Nitt focused on trying to disrupt Leodan and stop him from casting powerful magic. During this, Eldon accidentally causes a magical overload, causing an obscuring mist to spread around him which drained the life from those in it before Nitt dispelled the mist.
After the others defeated Oda Nobunaga, Kavesh returned but was defeated almost instantly by a combo of Arten and Maro. Baradin then approached Leodan and created an Antimagic field, which robbed him of his magical protections. Meanwhile, the copy of Elanor Highill was slowly chipping away at the party while the copy of Morai was hitting the party's backline with powerful magic.
Baradin, Omen, Maro, and Takemura now grouped around Leodan, grappling and tripping him before slowly beating him inside the Antimagic Field, where he was helplessly stuck. Meanwhile, the copy of Morai created a powerful Dark Star, limiting vision in the area and ending Nitt's life, and disintegrating his body and belongings (except for magical items). Eldon was close to being caught in the spell as well, but Maro rushed in to drag him out of the radius while Omen pushed the copy of Morai into the spell's area themselves.
The combat ended with Arten and Omen defeating Elanor Highill, with Arten being heavily damaged, Maro defeating the copy of Morai, and Takemura decapitating Leodan. But in the dust afterward, the party was left wondering: where was Nitt?
