Session 61: The Excursionists: Civil War Report

General Summary

The party fought against the strange creatures made from the black rukh. In combat, they randomly summoned an Air Elemental, a Winged Bull, and an Equinal. They also caused a stronger magical overload making so spells were enhanced in the area.
The party defeated the creatures and made their way back to the secret tunnel and headed back to the Rust Monsters' hideout. On the way, they discussed the potential link between the golden houses and the union of Love. They also discussed what the union of love would be doing here and why they would need to collect black rukh. Baradin Godchosen posed the idea that they were collected from the populace in some way, possibly from negative thoughts. Omen ei' Taure also said that possibly the black rukh was a different kind of rukh, like different races and perhaps you need different languages.
After they arrived in the hideout they spoke with Eleesa about the mission and the Union of Love. Maro Rei 'Sky' then approached Arten Veronica Lagurdo about her having attacked a civilian earlier in the day. Maro claimed Arten did not deserve her swords. Baradin nodded along. Arten defended herself, claiming that she did the right decision. Maro and Baradin argued that she treated violence as a joke and did not respect the power she had to hurt others. Arten said that Maro was the one quick to violence and should cool off outside. In response, Maro struck Arten making her drop one of her weapons. Omen told both of them to stop and that Maro should not stoop to her level.
The hostilities worsened as a fight broke out. Arten activated her Cloak of Dragonflight and let go of her weapon, letting Maro take it. Maro then took the weapons and left the hideout. Baradin followed him, saying he would keep an eye on Maro. Arten spoke with Eldon Caufield and Omen about what she might've been wrong, but her intention was good, and she believes they should hurry and not let those elsewhere die in this war.
Omen proposed the idea of heading back to Merlegos to let them know of their situation and get some ideas for their next moves. In the meantime, Maro and Baradin left for the Spider's Sting and bought a room, summoning a Peryton to help keep watch. Omen then arrived at the inn and bought a room and visited the others. Baradin and Maro argued that Arten took control of the situation with the civilian before Omen could act and she acted with violence. Baradin also worried that Arten said that she would not kill Maro, since he was still useful to her. Omen told Maro that he thought that this was not the right way, as someone who detests violence. In response, Maro said that Omen always says that, yet all he does is an adventure to fight others, if he wanted peace, Omen should've become a gardener and kept those he kept dear in his garden. Omen then asked Maro if he would stay in Omen's garden and Maro said no, he wants freedom. Omen then said this is why he adventures because his garden moves and with it, Omen moves. Baradin said that you could not force her to change, either a person choose to change, or they won't. They concluded that perhaps they could have Arten make a promise or swear an oath to not hurt those innocent first.
Takemura Yoshiro said that Arten needs to learn discipline and that she is too quick to act with violence, while Maro needs to control his emotions and Takemura is disappointed with them both. It is not their intentions that they are judged by, but by their actions. Arten believes that no matter if the person they hurt is a civilian or a trained knight, they are still hurting someone and since Maro argues that those knights signed up for being hurt he was being hypocritical.
Arten asked Eleesa what their next move is and she explained that they will wait for the next day before trying to infiltrate the Denivas Manor and question Valera Denivas of the golden houses, the head of the family that attacked the envoy.

Investigate and distrupt one of the Collection Towers belonging to the Dorindale house.
