Session 53: City of Golden Leaves Report

General Summary

The session begins as the party has just arrived in Niduin. To explore it, the party splits into three groups. Omen ei' Taure and Baradin Godchosen went to investigate for any mercenary work. Nitt and Eldon Caufield went to see if they could find any "shady" places. Arten Veronica Lagurdo, Maro Rei 'Sky', and Takemura Yoshiro went to find information regarding how to get into the inner district.
Omen and Baradin found a request for mercenaries, with ample rewards from the White Blade, a blacksmith. There, they spoke with an older elf who told them one of his contacts had found a vein of Cold Iron in the Espel Woods to the east, however, he had stopped receiving regular messages. He wanted someone to investigate the mine and would offer an enchanted sword worth 20 000 gp as a reward.
Nitt and Eldon unfortunately didn't manage to find much.
Arten, Maro, and Takemura found that one could enter the inner city in a couple of ways. The first was to have a Major Proof of Entry Approval or be part of an organization that had access to the inner city, such as the Knights of the Golden Leaf. They also learned that lady Riendil who owned a private club known as Shadowgates house had a Major Proof of Entry Approval.
They also investigated a building known as Cloakspell Tower. It was a tower inside the Rhunmeth Quarter that had a statue of a cat at the top of it. If one approached the base of the tower, there was no door, but an arcane circle. If someone touched it, they would see the other towers on the walls of the city turn and look like the Cloakspell tower, but with the cat statue made from differing materials. The tower was rumored to belong to an old member of the Aurelian Oracles known as Ironhand who enchanted the tower so it would not be found.
The party also visited the Blue Sky Bakery where they met Torlee Ceasus Wright, who told them a little about the history of the city and that she used to be an adventurer but had since settled down and ran the bakery with her children and husband.
Omen spent some time attempting to find the Cloakspell tower before the party went to the House of the Lady of Masks to purchase some fancy masks and attire. They also paid the owner to get an invitation to the private club of lady Riendil.
At some point, they heard someone express distress regarding a well in the district and heard strange sounds from it.
Omen and Nitt briefly investigated and found a way into the sewers from the well.
They waited until night and went to Shadowgates house, and learned she had a connection to the high house Serendil and could be willing to sell or loan her Major Proof of Entry Approval if the party helped her, though she had no request at the current moment, if they stuck around, she could give them an offer. They also learned that an organization called the Rust Monsters had been terrorizing the inner city, and had recently burned down a manor belonging to a family under one of the high houses.
After this, they followed a lead of a paper left in their house to come to the bakery at midnight where they met Luke Wright, Ex-lieutenant of the Shadow Corps of the Corelus Imperial Quarter. He explained some situations in the city and said that he could help them with some allies. He told them the combination needed to reach the Cloakspell Tower and that if they went to Shoreditch, outside the city walls on the other side, and found a rusted sword in rock and spoke the following: "Until all that glimmers is corroded" they could get some others. The party asked if he was with any of the high houses or the rust monsters, but he denied their claims.
After this, they decided to further investigate the sewers beneath the city.
