Session 50: Down the Great Fault Report

General Summary

Report

The session began in the 3rd layer of The Hollow, a location that the party had discovered when playing around with the magical item known as the Cube of Thávma that they found early on in their adventure.
First off, the party swiftly and easily dealt with a lone Crimson Splitjaw¹ that attempted to attack them before continuing. Some days later, they started seeing more of a small rodent of the layer known as Neritantan² and were distraught since the creatures would avoid them, so they used a Dominate Monster spell to command one to not run away, and they spent an hour petting it.
The day after this "episode", the characters found a group of neritatan² who had gotten themselves stuck in a tight opening and the characters got them free with Nitt managing to pry one from the rest, resulting in the party being battered by a flood of fluff. Beyond the blockade, they found a nest of birds, with several strange-looking eggs that were larger than the others, and the party found these to be creatures known as Bittaraya³ who disguise themselves as eggs to ambush prey. The fight was close, with several bittaraya³ covering many members of the party with their acidic "white" causing great damage early on. However, with the help of a Mass Cure Wounds from Eldon Caufield healing 210 hit points, and Baradin Godchosen's griffon helping Maro Rei 'Sky' escape from a tight spot, they managed to prevail.
After the combat, as calm ensued, the party noticed a strange construct near the opening of the cave to the main shaft. On a stone pedestal was a semi-translucent golden-amber egg, held by corroded golden metal at the bottom and an upside-down stick figure made from gold inside the egg. As the party approached and observed it, Omen ei' Taure necklace that he had while in the Hollow pulsed and they felt some static in their heads before a vision, like a memory, manifested in their mind. They saw an olive-skinned woman, clad in white greek-style chiton, with long curly golden hair. In the vision, the woman turned towards them and them showing a warm smile and bright golden eyes before the vision faded.
They discussed shortly the vision, and the necklace that Omen had, explaining that they were given it by a woman named Scarlet that some members of the party had met when they first entered the Hollow. They had returned to the material plane with her, but she had been taken back by a mysterious force. They, later on, found a letter from her telling them to find her at the bottom. The morning after, they were greeted by a massive phoenix-like creature⁴ about 50 meters from head to tail, ascending past them up towards the 2nd and 1st layers. A few days later they saw the same creature return down passing them by.
Several days later, the party stumbled onto a colony of Terxza mushrooms that Omen managed to identify. He also noted that they were edible but had severe hallucinogenic properties and were rumored to, in certain places, grant the consumer visions of the past, or future. After this, they managed to find their way to an ancient ship stuck into the wall of the layer. There, they found the ship lost to time and overgrown, with little to find when it comes to valuables. Exiting the ship, however, they saw some strange shimmer white crystalline ore, but before they could investigate, they were interrupted by two huge bear-like creatures⁵ wielding lightning as their weapon, and the party positioned themselves for a defensive interception. The session ended mid-combat against these two creatures.
