The Pirating of Northern Archia

INTRODUCTION
The Pirating of the North was a series of pirating and naval attacks commited along the West Seas, originating from the islands west of Gazelli. While the attack were initially thought to be random, the truth broke tensions in 4388 when the King of Archia, Emeric II, declared official war on the Tsondalian Free Empire, officially starting a more widespread war.

THE PIRATING
In 4300, Prillot X had ascended the Tsondalian throne, still angry about the death of his grandfather Prillot VII during the unjust The Invasion of Tsonlar. Prillot began making plans to invade the western half of the Archian Empire, primarily the weakened city of Gazelli; however an unknown advisor is noted as changing his mind to conduct a blockade and pirating of all the valuable goods the Northern Penninsula was providing the empire. So in 4313, six arvenon great-ships, the pride of the Tsondalian navy, sailed from islands just north of The Deep with a heading of the furtherest tip of Abeon. The raids were wildly successful, led by Captain Lain Goldsen, commander of the arvenon navy in Drivpae. Captain Goldsen led his forces ashore, taking vital riverheads and connections with the West Seas from Archia, effectively starving the trade in the North.

CEASEFIRE
After six years of bitter political tensions as a result of the blockade, King Emeric II agreed to pay Prillot X a sum of 91,000 golden marks- 1,000 for every year his grandfather Prillot VII had reigned in Tsonlar. Captain Goldsen was given the order to pull back, and the rivers and outlets were quickly retaken by Archia. The bitterness caused by the flagrant move of Prillot would eventually spill over into a great war between the two empires- leading to the deaths of both Prillot X and his only son, Hashten; ironically ending his line.
