The Battle of Burmae
INTRODUCTION
The Battle of Burmae was a small scale conflict between the Confederation of Traelec and Arvenon pirates from the south. The southern invaders originated from a small island just west off the coast of Gazelli, the Archian trading port city south of the wastelands and east of the centerwine river. The attacks began in the blossoming of 4755, disturbing important trade routes of Trouffenese steel with the rest of the region, including the neighboring North Isles Kingdom. The skirmishes and boat sieging lasted for a few years, before a coallition of provinces from Traelec put them down for good in 4759 4p.
THE FUED
Investigation into the siege began following the conflict, but the true reason for the blockade was never discovered. Many agreed it was disgruntled arvenon who disliked The Abeonic Treaty, while a daring few pointed the finger at The Archian Empire. The blockade began on Markus 4th, 4755 4p, with three battlehships- presumably stolen from the Tsondalian Free Empire- full of Arvenon pirates overtaking and sinking a Trouffenese vessel in the west seas. Lord Becker of Trouffen presumed it to be a one off incident. But on the 42nd, yet another cruiser was sunk by the vicious pirates. This time, they brutally killed all the survivors. The death toll now at 45 men, Becker put his general, Jax Arden to deal with them.
THE "SIEGE" OF TROUFFEN
In Jylon of 4756, the pirates had largely been held at bay for a year. However, on the 47th, the three battleships ventured into the Kristar river and began battering boats of the Trouffenese Trade Federation up the coast back toward Sathsaw Port in the actual city. Alarmed and angered, General Arden ordered a quick route of the dangerous vessels who had invaded. In what later became known as the 'siege' of Trouffen, the battleships battled with the Trouffenese Navy just beyond the outskirts of the bay, managing to sink 4 of their cruisers. 400 more men lost their lives before the pirates retreated back into the safety of the west seas. Angered and confused of how easily the arvenon had managed to get within a few hundred yards of the capital of the province, Jax called upon their cambradic allies in the north to help hunt down the rogue naval vessels.
THE FINAL SHOWDOWN
After searching for the pirates for years, the coalition of navies finally tracked them to a small island off the coast of the Steel Hills near Chromar. With over fifty combined ships in their navy, the coalition surrounded the pirates and sank all three of the rogue ships. They captured half of them, the rest drowned or died during the fight. The aftermath of the strange skirmishes resulted in higher guard along the Kristar River and the entrance to it, including the strengthening of the eastward port town of Shoreson, which protected the trade route into Kristar City- the southern border to Traelec. The series of fights became known as 'The Battle of Burmae', because the arvenon pirates called themselves the Burmae, named after the island near Gazelli from which they presumably came.
