Session 43: A Son, A Soldier, A Shield
General Summary
The fight continues!
The worm has thus far been woefully ineffective at actually biting people! It probably would have done better if I remebered to let it take Legendary Actions...l Lair actions have been a problem, mostly for positioning and strategy purposes; one burst pushed everyone away from the center, and another translated them across the mirrored axis of the Nexus. Emelia was finally able to leave the worm guts. Padme saved TA-2 from certain death, again.
Leaf completed the first phase of the Amanita Effect ritual by giving up his ancestral dragonscale shield, Shuk-litrix, as a symbolic gesture of his outgrowing his need for validation from father figures and going down his own path. As the spectral form of his father looked on, the shield flew to the center of the ritual circle and slammed into the surface of the room, marking the center of the ritual circle. Radiance burst from it to form the runic sigil the group had seen on the Withermarks and in the Stagnation. Having finally completed his task, he called upon the woodland spirits of direwolves and transformed into a bear... just in time for the Nexus to pulse, warping space and scattering the group to opposite sides of the battlefield. As for the Coast Guard's allies, the Brick Division got entangled and soundly routed. Captain Sultana survived, but few of his recruits were as lucky, and an Ecclesiophyte broke through the ranks. Sid Vicious miraculously held his own. Eidella and Glis also avoided trouble, but failed to make any significant progress. Captain Caydense and the Bush Division, alongside Chelu-kaan archers, make significant headway -- no monsters can enter the Coast Guard's battlefield on the side of the map where the ritual is being cast (for now).
