Guines Edict

Mining was a forbidden technology
Under the Guines Edict, the expectation that magic could and should be used to produce all that humanity needed, mining was expected to not be required. As some people believed they needed raw metal to assist in some spells, there was a black market of raw mined metal ore.

Fortitude is required for the endurance needed in manual labor, attacking rock to extract the desired ore and hauling the ore around.

Gravitas is required to understand the various types of materials encountered in mining and how they affect the mining process.

Might is required for the physical exertion when swinging picks or otherwise digging to discover the desired metal ores.
