Masters of Arms and Devices

The Masters of Arms and Devices, is a collection of professional militaria trainers, arms masters, weapons instructors, and weapons designers. These professionals often referred to as mad men because of the organizations acronym (MAD) seek to sell their services and wares to those who can afford them. They often arrive unannounced at manors and castles with example training manuscripts, sample devices, displays of skill ect anything they feel will help them make a sale. These wares range from the practical such as fencing lessons for a mayors eldest daughter, or arms manuals for a group of town guards to the strange and niche things like wind up mechanical grasshoppers that drop caltrops with every jump, or guides on dueling with boat oars and the like. Above all members of this organization are looking for a sale. Each member caries an emblem to show their affiliation with the group and provide at least an air of respectability to what essentially amounts to being a door to door salesman.   The organization meets annually to discuss new inventions and developments amongst themselves, though after a few rounds of drinks this inevitably devolves into one-upmanship, boasting and demonstrations of different techniques (non lethally) against each other. These gatherings are also used to induct new members, make friends between the various disciplines, and stay informed as to the state of the world at large. It pays for arms dealers to show up in the right place at the right time, times of peace and prosperity are the best times to peddle new techniques and obscure mechanisms, while times of tension and suspicion are good times to sell arms training and weapon codices. Purchasing the right thing from one of the MAD men at the right could make all the difference, the trouble is deciding what that thing might be. Should you ask the seller he will tell you the answer is simple, " Best to be safe, buy them all."
