Tessera
The realm of Tessera is a collaboratively-created storyworld comprised of four Regions spread across four major continents:
These Regions were developed by independent student groups of 3-4 organized around a shared storyworld framework: Name: Tessera
Aesthetic: Varied
Government Presence: ~ (Regional)
Rule of Law: ~ (Regional)
Social Services: ~ (Regional)
Economic Strength: 3 (Stable)
Wealth Distribution: 2 (Trending Up)
Agriculture & Trade: 1 (Trending Up)
Race Relations: 2 (Stable)
Class Relations: 2 (Stable)
Gender Relations: ~ (Regional)
Sexual Orientation Relations: ~ (Regional)
Military Influence: ~ (Regional)
Religious Influence: ~ (Regional)
Magick Influence: 2 (Trending Up)
Technology Influence: 4 (Trending Down)
Arts & Culture Influence: ~ Governance: As disparate worlds converge in the Ether, it becomes clear that regional governments (with varying levels of competence and functionality) are used to manage the needs of local populations. Availability of social services is region-dependent, and the Rule of Law is not equally applied. Lack of familiarity between regions breeds skepticism; it’s unclear which are friend, foe, or something else entirely. Economy: There is substantial economic value to be gleaned from The Convergence; novel resources may now be shared (and sold) across regional borders. An intense energy field emanating from The Source (which grows stronger as one nears the epicenter) has the potential to be leveraged toward technological—even magical—ends. As different populations make sense of what’s happening, upward trends in Agriculture & Trade (as well as Wealth Distribution) seem likely. Social Relations: Variations in Gender, Race, Sexuality, and Class Relations are regional. Cultural differences may fuel tension between different regions of the newly converged world, particularly as they learn more about one another’s customs and practices. Cultural Influences: Traditional arts (performance, painting, sculpture, etc.) are region-specific. Prior to The Convergence, communities specialized in different types of and approaches to work, particularly with respect to Technology development. Divergence in technology literacy and proficiency implies broad economic inequality between regions. Due to increasing social tensions (a consequence of sudden exposure to other diverse worlds), ideologically divergent groups have expanded, with artisan, political, mercantile, scientific, religious, and other leaders tapping the Source/Power to advance/evolve their tools, technologies, militaries, cultures, and other facets of society.
