Session 09 - Let's Go Gambling

General Summary

After recovering from the Abyssal Attack, the group is exhausted and heads back to the Plot and Hook tavern to rest. Clover finds a cryptic note under her pillow but is unable to decipher it. In the morning Trine the Modron finds them eating breakfast. He says he visited is soon-to-be-ex husband and got a map of something he remembered in passing. The Tower of Gaia Grey in the outlands is fractured and in disarray, with each level occasionally blinking out of existence. Gaia Grey was a known planar mage, though Trine was never able to get in contact with her as she became a recluse. He suspects she was experimenting with Originator Technology to access portals and planar travel. He suggests the group stock up on supplies by participating in the various gambling opportunities at the tavern.
Tech and Varix approach a table with a stalky woman with features resembling a badger who's daring people to out drink her. They took 8 shots together, and on the final shot the woman slumped over the table, making Varix and Tech the winners. The group also played a game of twenty-one, and after understanding the rules managed to beat the house 3 times in a row.
After exchanging their lodestars for gold at the bank, they are stopped by a hostile Dao and her minotaur guard. Speaking only Terran, a fight was unavoidable. While the Dao was destroyed and turned into a fine metallic dust, Clover knocked out the minotaur. They raided the Dao's fanny pack that was left behind, finding valuable materials Tech was able to identify, and a medallion on the minotaur. Before leaving they chucked the minotaur's body down the hole they came from with such force they could hear the body hitting every single wall as it fell down.

• Purple sludge in a vial banded with gold. Luminescent mushrooms grow within the bottle but vanish when it's opened. You gain resistence to poison damage, immunity to the poisoned condition and advantage on skill checks to interact with fungal life for 1 hour. If you make any fungal friends, they'll vouch for you down the line.

• A worn down medallion : Valuing arcane power and knowledge, it has a deep hatred for those that use magic for evil or personal gain. It continually encourages self discovery through service. Once every 3 days you gain advantage on a history check of your past.
