Sludge Dredger

Near the edge of the city of Helmaroc's Rest, people gather buckets of sludge coming down from the mountains. The work is hard and pays very little. The enitre boilery district depends on the collecting of the sludge from the mire, and the need for sludge is high. Luckily there is an ample supply Most of the workers live in houses built on the edge of the city, standing partially in the sludge itself.

Not much is needed to qualify for a job as sludge dredger. A strong back, and preferrably long legs are helpful.

Payment & Reimbursement

Individual Sludge Dredgers are mostly payed by the bucket. But those working in collectives or under a leader tend to get payed a bit more. It all depends on the quality of the sludge and its contents. Merchants from the League of Boilermakers and the Guild of non-edible Bakers  collect the sludge at the end of the day, making their selection of needed types of sludge.

Sludge Dredgers are probably the citizens held with the lowest regard in the city. Most of them are payed by the bucket.

The workers use buckets to collect the sludge, and mostly deposit it in a larger barrel they carry on their back. Which are then transported on carts with large wheels. To go deeper into the mire, some workers use stilts and long poles, to keep themselves from drowning in the mire of sludge. Sometimes they use helmarocs to carry a few barrels.

The workers mostly use the grounds near the river, here, there's a steady stream of sludge coming in, being carried by the currents of the green river.

Dangers & Hazards

Miresharks, dreklets, carrion crawlers or wild Helmarocs sometimes attack the workers.
