The Feywild
A jaguar creeps through the low hanging foilage of a forest, intent on her prey - a pair of white deer, grazing contentedly in a clearing up ahead. She tenses, leaping towards the pair- and falls before she hits, scrambling out of the way of the two things she thought were meals, now revealed to be Other, somewhat humanoid as they stand on hind legs with back-turned knees, but still doe-like in their large eyes. One grins, revealing its sharp teeth, as it rears back to strike.

The Feywild and the Shadowfell are the two progenitors of the Material Plane, embodying the most powerful of the forces that shape the world. The Feywild is the source of raw magic, the crackling power of a wild beast, a near-deafening roar and a quiet whisper all at once. Arcane magic and growth are abundant here, and often spiral wildly out of control of their creator's original intent. Those who call upon this sort of magic include sorcerers of several bloodlines, fey creatures of all kinds, and some druids or warlocks. But beware traveler, as this plane also houses the power of glamour; very few things are exactly as they seem. For the average sapient creature, to look through the planes into the Feywild is to look directly into the chaotic source of creation: not many born with the Sight live long, quickly descending into madness.
Many things call the Feywild home, including all manner of fey creatures. At the top of the hierarchy sit the major Courts, empires that hold great power. The two most prominent are the Seelie and Unseelie Courts, the product of an ancient disagreement between would-be rulers.
Seelie Court
The Seelie Court are those who followed the Summer Queen Titania. They put faith in purity above all, believing that the key to the survival of their culture and their species is to protect it from any alterations. Ardent followers of the Seelie Queen may reject the children of cross-species couplings, including half-elves, Genasi, or even some dryads, as they view such couplings as "tainted", even thinking that such persons will have significantly weaker magic. The Seelie Court is actually comprised of two courts; the Summer Court, ruled by Queen Titania, and the Spring Court, ruled by her consort Prince Oberon. For most of the year, the two courts function as one.Unseelie Court
The Unseelie followed the Queen of Air and Darkness in that ancient disagreement. The Gloaming Queen, whose real name has been lost to time, believes that adaptation is the best way to survive, and encourages her followers to alter themselves in order to fit more seamlessly into the environment. Some of the nobility have taken this a step further, and have permanently changed aspects of themselves through baneful magic, concealing the more horrifying of these changes through the use of glamours. This Court is comprised of the Winter, or Gloaming, Court, ruled by the Gloaming Queen, and the Autumn Court, ruled by her current prince consort. The title of Autumn Prince changes hands periodically, but is currently held by Prince Xanoros.Other Courts
While the Seelie and Unseelie are the most prominent courts, others do exist. The most notable of these is the Brackish Court, ruled over by the primordial Lord Nalkris; this court mainly consists of seafaring fey, but willingly shares space with the unaffiliated or Courtless, making its capital city of Leviloch a popular place of refuge. This is helped along by the presence of the Hag Queen, a primordial being of unknown nature who guards the forest that makes up the border between the Unseelie's territory and the Hinterlands where the Brackish Court resides.Geography
The war between the Unseelie and Seelie Courts, and the few pockets untouched by the war, has irrevocably changed the landscape of the Feywild. While the broader terrain mirrors that of the Material Plane, with forests and river and plains approximately in the same places, the border between the two empires shows the darker side of war magics; a strip of dead and decaying forest, known as the Vilewood, houses all manner of twisted fey creatures. On the edges of the Vilewood are pockets of magical influence, the biggest of which is known as the Crystalline, an area of living crystal formed by a long-ago battle between archfey.
Fauna & Flora
The majority of the Feywild's inhabitants are imbued with the creation magic that courses through the plane. As such, some of them are classified as "fey", even if they appear to be beasts or monstrosities of the Material Plane, though some things are exactly as they appear.
Common animal-like fey include: satyrs, blink dogs, and yeth hounds.
Common sapient fey include, in order of size: sprites, sylphs, nymphs, dryads, fae, and Eladrin.
Certain fey are classified as malevolent, spawning from fear, loneliness, or hatred, and twisted by the magic of the plane to reflect that. These include meenlocks, boggles, redcaps, and various forms of hags. In addition to the malevolent races, certain members of other races can also be belligerent, especially to outsiders.
Natural Resources
As with the Material Plane, the Feywild holds a variety of natural resources, including various woods, crops, animals and animal products, and stones or gems. The most precious of them all, however, is magic: most things harvested from the Feywild hold some degree of magical potential, and can be used to power spells. However, the chaotic nature of such items leads to instability, and care must be taken that no harm comes to the user.
