the Crying God

Ilmater, also known as the Lord who Endures and the Crying God, rules over perseverance, suffering, compassion, and endurance. He is a god of the oppressed and persecuted, and often depicted as a gaunt and bloodied man with severe injuries. His symbol is hands bound with red cord or heavily scarred hands, depending on the sect. He is also known as Itishikopak in the Frozen Expanse.

He is not a popular god in Meloria; many find him and his paladins and clerics disturbing, and actively avoid them. Due to his role as a reliever of pain, he has been adopted by many gnomes, elves, and other races who live within Meloria and have suffered at the hands of a sometimes uncaring government. The tenth and last month of the year, Ilm, is named after him.
