Great Mother Chauntea
the Grain Goddess
Chauntea, the Grain Goddess, or the Great Mother, is a goddess of agriculture and life. She is considered to be one of the eldest of the gods, and is usually worshipped primarily by farmers. Her symbol is a blooming rose over sheaves of grain, or sometimes just a sheaf of grain. Her Melorian temple, the Great Garden, is an open-air temple that also holds places dedicated to tMeilikki and Silvanus, whom she is closely related to. Most Melorians only celebrate her during the Festival of Grain, a quadrennial celebration on a day that is added to the calendar in the middle of Teah. The sixth month of the year, Teah, is named after her. She is also known as Pahluruk in the Frozen Expanse of the Far North.
