Festival of Grain

The Festival of Grain is an old holiday of the Plains people, now celebrated every four years on an extra day added to the middle of the month of Teah. It is held in honor of Great Mother Chauntea, the Grain Goddess, who is said to walk through the fields and bless the crops during the festival. As such, the day is marked by celebrations with beer, bread, and other grain-based foods, and no one enters the fields from sundown the previous to sunup the next.
