The Origin of Kuvonee Myth in Phasmatum | World Anvil

The Origin of Kuvonee

Tale from the Skyfolk   A mystery of origin that humans cannot fathom. Why is it that every species, every culture, native to Phasmatum, refers to their home as “Kuvonee”? It doesn’t seem to translate from any of their languages. Besides their Marks, each culture seems to have their own traditions and religions.   What, then, is the significance of Kuvonee?   This is a legend that only the Skyfolk remember. For they never forgot the old tongue . . . though the memory of those that gifted it to them is trapped behind a haze.   As each species evolved into consciousness, the Thirty Artist Composers visited them in kind. For the most beautiful of their artwork, they provided the gift of wisdom and the mark which would allow them to use it. When they saw that their creation was their crowing achievement, the thirty realized how tired their living portrait had made them and so retired to the divine realm where none can follow and none can leave.   One, however, stayed behind. The Witness. Who saw the soul-stirring harmony in their creation and chose to wait until the last brushstroke dried; the last note faded. The Witness swore to watch over their creation until the Masterpiece was complete.   Complete, you see, is the meaning of Kuvonee. And it is the promise of the thirty—now just the one—that some day the world will be complete. A masterpiece that none can fathom.
