Hestaskó

The wheel and the Horseshoe

Hestaskó is a small indipendent village situated on the borderline of the lands given out on the Donation of Be Chuille to the Tower of Imbuers and Creators. As many small villages and towns in the territories belonging to the Dragon Kingdom they have developed a strong connection with horse, in particular, becoming the town most famous for their Huschmidt whose talent has no equal across the continent. The village is also nicknamed, not without some humour, The wheel and the horseshoe because of the orientation of its main streets, which form the spokes of a wagon wheel, and the shape of its main square, where a celebrated horse race is run.

Landmarks and places to visit

The two most important landmarks in this small village are the Huschmidt consortium, a guild-hall where the businesses of the master horseshoe-makers are regulated, and the main square, where during the summer a famous horse run devoted to Rhiannon takes place attracting audience from various locations. Another interesting place is the Lucky ring, a countryside inn owing his name to a horseshoe in the signpost that reportedly belonged to the most successful horse in the history of the Palio

A no-holds-barred struggle between neighbourhoods

Each quarter takes part to the Palio and every member of each quarter takes it extremely seriously. There are some long standing rivalries between neighbourhoods, so it is preferable to resort to foul play rather than let the enemy district win. Corruption, poisoning or treathening of an opponent quarter's rider to hamper their chances to win are frequent occurring in the long history of the race.
