Aiffus (aye-fuss)
Aiffus is a major god of death and twin sibling to the god of life, Sol. Aiffus, The Great Shephard, Warden of the Fields, or Equilibre, was born of one half of one of the Five God Seeds produced by Nu during the Creation Era, the other half of course being his twin brother Sol. Aiffus was born naturally reclusive, preferring only the company of his sibling. With time, the god would develop a divine will of compassion and an understanding of the finality of all things. It should then become obvious why Aiffus would claim dominion over death, sharing in the responsibility of the natural cycle with his brother.
After the creation of The World Mundus it was the combined divine efforts of the twin gods that created the first Humans, modeled after their creator Nu, in the Field of Creation. These humans at first were closer to celestials than actual mortals, but their will and ambition were cradled by the gods, and they were encouraged to sail along the Potami from the heavens to The Materiel Plane to form their own tribes and fulfill their destinies and desires. Aiffus is at all times surrounded by a cadre of Celestials disguised as Black Butterflies. These butterflies act as arbiters of Aiffus's will; they come to mortals as both shepards of change and as agents of Aiffus to enact great vengeance on those who disrupt the balance of life and death.
The most common avatar of Aiffus is The Deaths Head Moth, almost always seen through visions as a massive etheriel moth with wings that rumble with force as it flies and a skull icon on its furry back. More often than not, the presence of this avatar means either a potent sol is being sheparded directly by the god or a powerful retribution must be delivered to an enemy of the god.Personality
Aiffus exudes a benevolent and serene aura, embodying the principles of justice and compassion. As the Lawful Good God of Death, he is a gentle guide who ensures the orderly transition of souls from the mortal realm to the afterlife. Aiffus is known for his wisdom, patience, and unwavering commitment to maintaining cosmic balance. Oftentimes, Aiffus will take a very direct approach to beseeching mortals to act on his behalf. The first time Aiffus appears to someone, it is generally regarded as a harrowing and imposing experience. Most mortals are not ready to interact with the literal embodiment of their own mortality. However, once a wilful individual can grapple with their first glimpse of the god, they will understand that death is as natural as life and that Aiffus, while imposing, is a genuine and good-natured god.
When interacting with mortals, Aiffus will utilize soothing imagery of change or growth to manifest his messages. He speaks with a poetic flourish and strives to find the deepest meanings in all of his interactions. A strict and practical figure, Aiffus only reveals himself to mortals when the moment truly calls for it. Aside from beseeching chosen clerics or followers to accomplish important tasks, Aiffus vastly prefers the quiet and profound solace of roaming his divine realm.Relationships
Aiffus shares a profound and divine kinship with his brother Sol, the god of life. Together, they form an inseparable balance, embodying the cyclical nature of existence. Aiffus's role in guiding souls into the afterlife complements Sol's role in nurturing life, creating a harmonious relationship that maintains cosmic equilibrium. In battle the two gods act as a fierce duality of world shaking prowess, Sol darts about with potent and godly strikes charged with Aiffus's bolstering magic.

Aiffus holds a close alliance with Hertha, the goddess of nature and creation. Their collaboration ensures that the transition from life to death harmonizes with the natural order. Aiffus's black butterflies are said to carry the essence of Hertha's blessings, symbolizing the interconnectedness of life, death, and the cycles of nature.
Aiffus harbors a deep-seated wrath and hatred for Chernobog due largely in part to their cataclysmic battles during the Five Centruy War and her impersonation of him in an attempt to deceive Sol. The corruptive influence that Chernobog seeks to spread threatens the delicate balance Aiffus maintains. Their cosmic opposition reflects the eternal struggle between the forces of light and darkness, life and corruption.
Aiffus admires Gorm, the god of mercy, for embodying compassion and benevolence. While their domains differ, Aiffus recognizes the importance of mercy in the face of death. The two deities share a mutual understanding of the significance of compassion in guiding souls to their final rest.
Lotan, the god of disasters, elicits sadness from Aiffus. The destructive forces wielded by Lotan disrupt the natural order, causing suffering and untimely deaths. Aiffus mourns the impact of these disasters on mortal lives and strives to mitigate the anguish they bring, maintaining compassion even in the face of unavoidable tragedies.

Description
The true body of Aiffus takes the form of an immense, graceful fox composed entirely of dark, cloudy smoke. Pearing through the smoke are the brilliant, gleaming eyes of a comforting blue light that are said to inspire a perfect sense of contentment in mortals who gaze into them. The size of this fox varies wildly in interpretation; sometimes mortals who encounter the god through visions or divination will say the fox appears as a monumental beast that towers over them, while other times it appears as a normal-sized fox with a presence of divinity that inspires comfort. Artistic representations of the god generally consist of this image, though some will take artistic liberties, portraying the fox as being vaguely sprectral or skeletal to further signify the god's connection with mortality. The most common avatar of Aiffus is The Deaths Head Moth, almost always seen through visions as a massive etheriel moth with wings that rumble with force as it flies and a skull icon on its furry back.
