Abyssal Heartstones are dark relics crafted by performing vile rituals in the name of Chernobog. Only the most devoted and cruel servants of The Dark Flock are capable of producing such an item.
Description
Usually appearing as a jagged purple or black crystal that thrums with a cold arythmic heartbeat and has a tendency to cut into the hands of its wielders. These powerful gems are said to slowly drive the wielder mad with morbid visions as they use its power or gaze into it.
Powers
Similar to other Heartstones these objects are rare and tied to the deity who imparted power upon them. Abyssal Heartstones have an aura of madness which can be activated by a wielder blessed enough to withstand it, in addition some of these gems can inflict great pain or create an area of darkness. Upon shattering these gems flood the surrounding area with a cloud of necrotic darkness that lashes out at all caught its area of influence. An Abyssal Heartstone is an essential component in rituals that involve summoning and binding powerful Demons to mortal masters.

Manufacturing process
The heartstone requires a valuable amethyst, jet, or other dark gem to be the central object in a gruesome ritual performed for Chernobog, usually involving the sacrifice or suffering of an unwilling participant. It is also said that during certain points of history Chernobog has created and sent these heartstones to the world in the hands of her most devoted followers.
History
Throughout the history of cults centered around Chernobog, these heartstones or similar objects have appeared at the centers of many tragedies or secret plots. Famously in 856 PC an Adjunct of the The Mahaanision Empire was publicly executed by an angry mob who discovered him to be a secret member of The Dark Flock. The official was using his status as a means to sow chaos, the ensuing struggle was further intensified by the presence of an Abyssal Heartstone which was crushed in the scuffle, causing a necrotic eruption that withered away nearly two dozen people in the attacking crowd.
