The Obsidian Court
The collective rulers of the Black Isles, all of whom owe fealty, and their lives to their Queen. This is because the queen regnant is the mother of all the nobles and the lesser queens are her most prominent daughters. And possibly her successors either through nomination or challenge and murderous court intrigue. Throughout the Black Isles, a number of hives exist and each is run by their queen who is a daughter, granddaughter, or multi-great granddaughters of the queen regnant. The hive queens send their daughters and most valuable sons to represent them at court. The hope is that their sons may be selected as concubines.
