Ilius (ill-ee-us)
Situated along a road that leads from the small city Cul'Ari and the large town Quick. It is completely neutral with both but doesn’t gain any protection from either. It relies on itself, and unfortunately, it's like a flower trying to grow between weeds, it keeps getting stepped on and outgrown. Monsters and raiders are abundant, and when their main source of survival is farming, they're not exactly equipped for defending themselves.
But it holds on because of its people unbeknownst to most of the world, Ilius is a village of Dreamthings. They have nowhere else they can foster their own culture after breaking free from Ribosia . The people are charming, not fierce and so find themselves poor and plundered. Often riding the line with disease and poverty. For all this, they are a close-knit community that watches out for one another. Which in recent history has come in the form of a light-heartedness, a revelry and a joke. And one of the ways this has physical manifested is in the coloured glass creations that coat the town like a blanket - the most defining feature to outsiders should they find need to come by.

Or any of the illusionists and tricksters that are created in this interesting town.

History
The cause of such is debated, but it is believed long ago a portal from Ribosia to Nucliosia opened up for many Dreamthings to fall through. This portal is believed to be located within the Greencap Forest. In an entirely new world with little knowledge of it, the Dreamthings didn't go far before they settled a place of their own, entirely free from the territories of others and the soil fertile for sowing seeds.
However, they eventually found why it was unused land, perfectly between territories no larger military force from other cities protecting it and its right in wild lands to get attacked by monsters and bandits. Farms and produce flourished while the townspeople were forced to suffer the abuse. Eventually, the depressive state sunk the town so far they turned it right around with the introduction to Olidimari and the divine couple of rebirth, Montilena and Lapin and their son of love Ludus, by a wandering bard troupe. The merriment they brought planted a seed that the fertile land also took to growing with fervour. Now in between bouts of terror upon their village, they laugh and enjoy themselves.
The first three rulers of the village were the wisest elders who as per their culture, made a persona they all take on. The trio of them can confirm each other's identity to ensure no one else pretends to be the Elder Tricoto.
Points of interest
- Being a stopping point between Cul'Ari and Quick
- Despite its rough go at life / poor standing, the people are outwardly light-hearted and have a sense of humour. There's always some sort of illusion or something of the sort going on at any given time. They're like the poster village for hiding your worries and pain with laughs but a good look at the eyes will reveal the weight on their shoulders.
- Glass craft, every building has it implemented in some way. They love how the light changes and dances.
Architecture
- Hills with paths and loose rope fencing
- Farms reaching around
- The buildings are packed together densely with domes, kinda like hard-shelled beetles stacked together for protection in numbers
