Children of the Inferno
One of many religious organizations which follows an aspect of Moradin, specifically his proclivity for fire and destruction.
Mythology & Lore
In the Beginning, Moradin created Dheg Lhodar. He intended to create a clever and hardy race to best his siblings. Knowing their bravery and vigor, he gave them both a curse and blessing: a river of molten rock which flowed down from the heavens along the Chain to the center of the isle. If his creations couldn't master such raw power, then he didn't deserve to win the Great Game.
Moradin's creations, the dwarves, called the lava the River of Creation. They learned to tame the River, in a way: its heat was greater than the hottest forge, allowing dwarves to harness the most stubborn of metals.
Divine Origins
Two core faiths were born from the River of Creation. The first, Ashen Ascension, came from the miracle of creation provided by Moradin - the River gave both heat and materials which could not be found without it. The second was the Children of the Inferno, from the destructive potential of Moradin's River. Nothing living could survive for long within a few yards of the lava. This lead to the idea of fire as a purifying power.
The first prophets of the Inferno, known as Flames of Moradin, trained their entire lives to withstand the River's incredible heat. Some traditionalists still follow the decades-long process of desensitization, but others prefer to follow Inferno doctrine and writings over this brutal physical process.
