Earliest appearance of Elves in documents

To the 1713 btT dates the earliest mention of the elven race in any documents still existing. In this document, now conserved in the libraries of Monastery Lonepeak, elven traders from Loraillyria are mentioned as the main source of enchanted wood for high profile members of the Circle of Druids.

It is widely assumed that elves had existed in the Forest of Lorai from before the 1700s btT, but their presence is not mentioned in any of the very few documents predating this year. Scholars put forward different hypotheses on why this happened, with the most popular being the fact that very few antecedent documents are still available or that the elven kingdom was transported on the material plane suddenly, from the feywild. Nonetheless, estimates by academics expert on elven culture on how long did the kingdom of the elves actually exist in the Forest of Lorai before the 1700s btT range between 500 to 700 years, moving the proposed date of creation of the elven kingdom between 2200 to 2400 btT.
