Square of Wonders

The central square of Enverdoon, the Square of Wonders is a large circular area of huge grey slabs of andesite that leads to some of the oldest or most important buildings of the city. Other than the Royal Palace, from this square one can reach the Dwarven Embassy, the portals to the Enverdoon Academy and the Dragon Pantheon.

Dwarven Embassy

The Dwarven Embassy stands on the Wonder Square towards the north of it, opposite to the Royal Palace.
It's structure has remained unchanged since it's construction, and it is one of the oldest buildings in Enverdoon according to dwarven documents, dating back to the founding of the city.
The entrance to the Embassy is characterized by the presence of two huge Dwarven statues, which are some of the only structures in the city built in stone of the northern crest, in this case hues of red granite, obsidian, and decorations of silver and lapis lazuli. Thanks to its historical significance, the Embassy, built in a style now considered vintage among dwarves and aged compared to modern dwarven architecture, is often visited by Dwarven Master Builders and architecture students. These people often come to visit or study the embassy, under tutelage or guidance of the Dwarven ambassador.

Architecture

Strongly influenced by dwarven artistry and culture, the older buildings of Enverdoon fuse the traditional dwarven aesthetics and stone usage techniques with the theme choices of the humans that first colonized the region. The dwarven influences led to tall buildings, often more expanded vertically rather than horizontally, as well as "vertical decorations", such as somber statues in static poses and fake columns created from wall reliefs. Moreover, no stone decorations or construction parts are colored, keeping the stone in either its original form (rough) or just polished. Differently from pure dwarven cities, buildings in Enverdoon have however human themes for their decorations, with scenes of mythology, war, hunt, cultivation, sailing, and other activities not much practiced by mountain dwarves. Moreover, houses need roofs when outside mountains, and here those were done with terracotta shingles, common thanks to the many clay deposits in the region.

Geography

The region around Enverdoon has temperate climate, similar to Central Europe, and soil more fertile than Sealance but not comparable to Evenfarm. Agriculture, husbandry (mainly cows) and the fishing industry powered by many coastal villages provide the city inhabitants with food.
Quartz, marble, black and brown granite and gray andesite are very common in quarries in the region, and characterize most buildings in the city.
Thanks to the Raivelor, many clay deposits can be found, which promoted terracotta art and manufacture.
However, being relatively distant from the Sealance Desolation and the Northern Crest, which are the central hubs of the Western Continent for metal extraction, there is little of these materials in the city, which in turn made it so that only the finest and most expensive decorations are made with metal, which almost always has to be imported.
