Duchy of Sealance
Formerly independent, the Duchy of Sealance is a province of the Enverdoon Kingdom that controlsthe namesake region of Sealance. In the year 850 otT, Enverdoon has sworn fealty to the Khalimedi Empire, not simply a kingdom anymore, and has effectively become a vassal state. This technically means that Sealance is now a province of Khalimed and answers to Empress Ashista.
The Duchy of Sealance borders the Enverdoon core province to the north and Evenfarm to the west. While relations with the former have been tense in the past and have further worsened with the vassalization by the Khalimedi Empire, Sealance has strong bonds of cooperation and mutual trust with its western neighbors.

Structure
The Duchy of Sealance has retained the same political organization it had as an independent kingdom, with few exceptions.
Technically speaking, the Duchy is closest to an oligarchy, where members of the Noble families of Bridgetown, which are by extension the most influential people of Sealance, can be elected to various governmental positions and offices with an election process in which only nobles are allowed to vote. This political system is a relic of the caste society, now officially disbanded, that the humans tribe descending the Northern Crest used to follow. In that paleo-human society, nobles were allowed to vote and were the most prestigious caste, followed by the warrior caste, which included spellcasters, the commoner caste and ultimately the shunned caste, made of extremely poor people, slaves, sick and weak individuals.

Positions
- Duke of Sealance.
Formerly the sole decider on matters relating to Sealance, the duke is now the single most important figure in the region. Under the King of Enverdoon, the Duke is now the head of the Trigort and is responsible for the whole Sealance. - Captain of the guards.
During the Duchy independence, the Captain had power over the king's army, but under Enverdoon their role is to serve as second most important figure of the local guard, after the Duke. - High Priest of Terelok.
Oppositely to the other two high pirests of the council, the high priest of Terelok has a very secular function, as it is the keeper of Sealance's treasury and the person dedicated to overseeing taxation levels and coffers. After the subjugation by Enverdoon, the High priest of Terelok has to answer to the "High Justice of Terelok", who is the high priest of Terelok of the city Enverdoon and most influential person in the Church of Terelok, and is also appointed by them. This has caused tension between the capital and the region: depending on the High Justice, the Sealance high priest can sometimes be uninterested in regional's matter and act as a tool for the King to control the council and keep it in check. - High Priest of Soverialis.
- High Priest of Luciera.
The only member of the council that is somehow involved with and has interest in the common folk, the priests of Luciera often suggest laws or courses of actions that can help the majority of the populace. - Guilds Bearer.
Added after the settling of Bridgetown under the first Dukes of Sealance, the Guilds Bearer is the representative of the merchants social class and has to bring to the attention of the council issues brought to him by heads of local production guilds or by any of the various merchants. - High Judge.
- Enverdoon Emissary.
A diplomat sent by the King of Enverdoon to oversee the council's actions and to protect the King's interest in the region.
Culture
Sealance is one of the main members of the Western-Humans culture.
Because of this, in Sealance necromancy is not well perceived. While not strictly illegal, it can fall under the desecration of humanoid remains, which is illegal. In practice, this translates to the possibility of being arrested if seen graverobbing or if people related to a deceased person see said deceased person being reanimated. However, the concept of animating the dead and maintaining them is not illegal, even if severely frowned upon.
