Consul Haelas

Colsul haelas is the Consul of Regius. He was elected in 874 and has remained in power since.

Political Views

Colsul Haelas, as the founder of the Free Nations Alliance hates the Imperial Coalition and will never give in to their demands or surrender to them. He dislikes the Merindian Empire because they defeated Regius in the outlands during a war there that lasted from 784 to 778 and took several of Regius's largest colonies. He also dislikes the New Shorian Empire because he believes they plan on conquering Regius.

Personal History

Haelas lived a fairly normal early life, he didn't do anything noteworthy. In 850 Haelas began studying military strategy when he was 17 and continued studying it for 8 years. When he was 25 he joined the Regian army and eventually over the course of 10 years he rose to a position of power in the army. Haelas then decided to bring glory to Regius and conquer a new land. Haelas set his eyes on the continent of Derrenia in the outlands, a continent that had always been able to resist Regian conquest.Haelas was given control of a 100,000 man force that was made up of tanks, planes, infantry, artillery, and airships. He landed on Derrenia in 870 and quickly overwhelmed the enemy forces there using a relentless combined arms assult that utilized artillery, tanks, infantry, bombing, and airship shelling to decimate his enemies and rapidly take territory. This campaign continued for half a year until it was completed and Haelas had many important strategic positions and resources. After his conquest of a part of Derrenia he returned to Regius and was regarded as a master general and a hero. He used his newfound popularity to become the consul of Regius after he was elected in with a majority voting for him, and he has been voted to stay in twice, ruling for 10 years.
In 871 Consul Haelas negotiated with other powerful countries and formed the Free Nations Alliance, an alliance made to oppose the Imperial Coalition that had formed 3 years earlier.

Personality

Haelas is a very tough, direct, decisive, but stubborn man. He is very strong willed, never giving up, but he often has a hard time changing his mind even when he's wrong. This bullheaded approach can sometimes be good when it helps him pull through difficult situations and when he refuses surrender, but it can also be bad when he is slow to accept change. Haelas admires strong and hard working people, but he greatly dislikes people that he considers weak and/or weird. He sees the inability to fin into society and abnormal behavior to be a great sign of weakness too.

Appearance

Haelas has been described as an exceedingly intimidating person. This is because of his towering height and great strength, as well as the fact that he tends to wear heavy armour most of the time. He is extremely strong, to the point where he can break steel chains and uproot trees, and even survive some small arms fire.

Relationships

Emperor Wulfrum

Haelas greatly admires Emperor Wulfrum for his immense knowledge, but still sees him as a rival who he's willing to fight against when war comes. Emperor Wulfrum respects Haelas as a leader, but sees his stubbornness and inadaptability as major flaws that make him difficult to negotiate with.

Queen Stalgard III

Haelas respects Queen Stalgard III for her strong will and use of force, and they both dislike weird/weak people. Haelas still doesn't like her though because empire, the New Shorian Empire because he knows that she plans on conquering Regius. Queen Stalgard III has a rather neutral opinion oh Haelas. She respects him because of how they both dislike weak/weird people and they both use force against their enemies, but she still does want to conquer Regius and he is a great obstacle in that goal.

Mithrim

Haelas has a conflicted opinion on Mithrim. On one hand he greatly respects his extremely powerful magic abilities, but on the other hand he hates how much of his identity he hides and he hates how strange he talks and acts. Mithrim doesn't care for Haelas or respect him much, seeing him as just another weak and unimportant mortal man who can't even hold a candle to his divine power.
