CHAPTER ONE: DEW DROP INN

To the right is a Table of Contents. It will float with you as you scroll through the adventure. Click the place in the Table of Contents you want to go and it will automatically scroll you to the section you have chosen.
If you die, a common occurance in this adventure, simply go back to the beginning of the chapter you died in and try again. If you want to play extreme hardcore, go back to the beginning of Chapter One!

1) In The Beginning

It is a stormy afternoon as you finally step into the roadside inn. You are drenched from the hard rain still pounding down outside. Your cloak failed to fend off all that rain and you are soaked through to your skin. The warmth from the fire burning in a large hearth across the taproom cheers you. Your eyes adjust to the dim light from the lanterns hanging above in the gentle haze of pipe smoke. The delicious smells of baked bread and stew fight to be noticed. All but the one rickety-looking table in a corner near the door is filled with travelers, several looking as wet as you.

A portly man with graying brown hair comes over to you jingling with every step from the coins in his apron pouch.
"Welcome to the Dew Drop Inn," the portly man greets you, smiling. "I am sorry, but all rooms are taken. However, as long as you're a paying customer, you can have a seat for the whole night." The innkeeper waves to the rickety table. "Only serving supper right now for five coppers. Comes with an ale."
You pay the innkeeper the five coppers and sit down. With a jingle as your coins are dropped into his apron, the innkeeper hurries away.

As you wait, three musicians finish their supper and sit on their table. They begin playing a cheery tune on their instruments. At another table, a man opens a box. The inside of the lid and bottom are painted with numbers. He picks up a pair of dice and rattles them in his hand. Without having to say a word, he has drawn people to his table for a bit of gambling.
No more than a minute passes before a serving girl dashes over to your table. She sets down a bowl filled with stew and a pint of ale. Before you can say a word, she is gone, hurrying back into the kitchen.

Suddenly your vision blurs and you lose all sense of your body. The music abruptly ends with a crash and clunk of falling instruments. Shouted oaths and startled shrieks fade to silence. Just as quickly, your vision and senses return to reveal: Roll The Dice
You Rolled A 1 -6

You find yourself submerged in ... stew? Instinctively you struggle to swim until you touch bottom and stand up. The stew is very warm but not painfully hot, a relief as you wipe your face clear. It takes a moment for you to realize your are standing chest deep in your bowl. You are tiny!

Your Rolled A 7 - 12

You find yourself holding onto a short beam with your feet dangling far above the ground. It takes a moment for you to realize the beam is the handle of your pint. You are tiny!

You Rolled A 13 - 20

You find yourself standing on a wooden floor. It takes a moment for you to realize you are standing on the seat of your chair. You are tiny!

2) It's A Hole

You run hard for the mouse hole, your sword in hand, just in case. Roll The Dice
You Rolled A 1-9

Suddenly a great weight crushes you to the floor even as sharp claws sink into your back. Oh, no! A cat has caught you! These are your last thoughts as you die.

A cat pounces in front of you.

By some miracle, you make it into the mouse hole.

3) Stewed

You climb out of the stew and stand on the table. Looking around, you see an empty taproom. Wiping your eyes, you look again. Tiny people stand on tables. Others stand on chairs.

Looking down, you see even more tiny people on the sawdust-covered dirt floor. A mouse charges across the floor and knocks down a tiny man to grab a crumb. The man shakes his fist. He looks to be yelling at the mouse but you are too far away to hear what he is saying.

The mouse freezes. You laugh when the tiny man strikes a proud pose when the mouse runs away to a hole in the distant wall.
Movement catches your eyes and you turn away from the tiny man for a look. A fat cat that looks monstrously huge at your current tiny size walks away from the stack of ale kegs. It steps out into the taproom. Looking this way and that, it sniffs the air. Letting out a happy mew, the cat heads for your table!

Hide In The Stew

With no other place to hide, you dive back into the stew. Taking a deep breath, you go to the bottom and hope its deep enough the cat won't find you.
The table wobbles as something heavy lands on it. A deep purr rumbles through the stew then stops as a great mouth begins to eat the stew.
It does not take long for the cat to find you and eat you.
YOUR ADVENTURE IS OVER! TRY AGAIN!

4) That's A Hole

The two of you run hard for the mouse hole. Your sword is drawn, just in case. Roll The Dice
You Rolled A 1 - 9

Suddenly a great weight crushes you to the floor even as sharp claws sink into your back Oh no! A cat has caught you! These are your last thoughts as you die. YOUR ADVENTURE ENDS HERE! GO BACK AND TRY AGAIN!

You Rolled A 10-18

A cat pounces on the serving girl. You try your best to try and drive it off her with your sword, but your little stabs and slices only convince it to take its newly caught meal elsewhere. With a heavy heart, you make your way to the mouse hole.
CONGRATULATIONS!! YOU HAVE REACHED CHAPTER TWO!!

You Rolled A 19 - 20

By some miracle, the two of you make it into the mouse hole. CONGRATULATIONS!! YOU HAVE REACHED CHAPTER TWO!!

5) Dive

You make a frantic dive to the chair as the cat lands on the table. Rather than follow you, the fat cat purrs and starts eating the stew. Roll The Dice
You Rolled A 1

You miss the chair and crash to the floor, breaking your neck.
YOUR ADVENTURE ENDS HERE! GO BACK AND TRY AGAIN!

You Rolled 2-9

You land on the seat of your chair in a sprawl and slide off the edge. Quick reflexes let you catch the edge and you now dangle above the floor.

You Rolled 10 - 20

You land on the chair and make your way to a chair leg where you climb down to the sawdust-covered floor.
GO TO 9

6) Duel

There is no more running now. With no choice but to fight, you let out a battle cry, and charge the cat. Roll The Dice
You Rolled A 1-9

With desperate savagery, you stab at a paw.
"Mew!" the cat complains as your sword sinks in. It jerks back its wounded paw, pulling you off balance.
You stumble one step then a second step. On the third step you catch your balance but it's too late. The cat's other paw slams into you, sinking claws deep into your torso. The paw pins you to the floor.
A great cave of teeth engulfs you, ending your life.

You Rolled A 10 - 20

With desperate savagery, you stab at a paw.
"Mew!" the cat complains as your sword sinks in. It jerks back its wounded paw.
You hold on tight to your sword and it comes free from the paw. Running under the cat, you stab a hind paw.
"Meow!" The cat screeches and leaps up in the air. It twist around and lands behind you.
Running faster than you ever have in your life, you sprint for the mouse hole, expecting cat claws to strike you down. You dive into the mouse hole and slide to a halt on your stomach. Getting up, you whirl around to stare out the hole.
The cat is not behind you. Instead, it has moved on to easier prey and is munching on some other poor hapless soul.
CONGRATULATIONS!! YOU HAVE REACHED CHAPTER TWO!!"

7) Hang In There

You dive for the chair and flop onto it. You slide off the edge, just managing to catch yourself. As you dangle above the floor, you try to pull yourself back up onto the chair. Roll The Dice
You Rolled 1 - 5

You lose your grip and fall to the floor where you break both of your legs. Before anyone can come to your aid, a cat comes along and makes a tasty meal of you.

You manage to shimmy hand over hand to a chair leg. Carefully, you climb down to the sawdust-covered floor.

8) Swing

You struggle to pull yourself up and swing to the table. Roll The Dice
You Rolled A 1 - 5

As you pull yourself up, you feel the pint wobble. With one desperate move, you try to swing yourself to the table. Sadly, the pint tips over. You and the pint tumble to the floor where it crushes you to death.

You Rolled A 6 - 20

As you pull yourself up, you feel the pint wobble. With one desperate move, you swing yourself to the table. The pint tips over and falls to the floor as you flop onto the table.

9) Floored

As you look around, the serving girl who had brought your supper runs by with a group of others.
"We have three cats!" she yells. "We must find someplace to hide!"
"To the kitchen!" The man at the front of the group shouts and everyone runs for the closed kitchen door.
"Meow?" A questioning mew thunders from the bar counter. A young cat just out of the kitten stage jumps down to the floor, blocking the way to the kitchen door.

Tiny people scream and scatter in all directions. Under the table near yours, three men fight for the two places there is room for inside a tipped over pint on the floor.
Someone screams in the distance, sounding more like a mouse than a person. You blink and remember the mouse running into a hole far down the wall.

10) On High

Looking around you see an empty taproom. Wiping your eyes, you look again. Tiny people stand on tables. others are standing on chairs. Looking down, you see even more tiny people on the sawdust-covered dirt floor. A mouse charges across the floor and knocks down a tiny man to grab a crumb. The man shakes his fist. He looks to be yelling at the mouse but you are too far away to hear what he said but you can imagine.
The mouse freezes. You laugh when the tiny man strikes a proud pose as the mouse runs away to a hole in the distant wall. Movement catches your eyes and you turn away from the tiny man for a look. A fat cat, looking monstrously huge at you tiny size, walks away from the stack of ale kegs. It steps out into the taproom. Looking this way and that, it sniffs the air. Letting out a happy mew, the cat heads for your table!

With no other place to hide, you dive into the stew. Taking a deep breath, you go to the bottom and hope its deep enough the cat won't find you.

11) Run

You hurry after the serving girl and the two others. It soon becomes apparent they are just running around with little chance of finding any place safe.
"Meow!" A rangy cat pounces down from a table right in front of you and the serving girl, seperating you from the others. You draw your sword though you doubt it will do much good as you can barely reach the carpal pad on the back of the cat's front leg.
You Are Covered With Stew

Drawn by the tasty scent of the stew covering you, the cat attacks. You try to fend off the cat with your sword but you only manage to give it a nick of a cut before it crushes you beneath a paw and eats you.

12) Seated

Looking around you see an empty taproom. Wiping your eyes, you look again. Tiny people stand on tables. others are standing on chairs. Looking down, you see even more tiny people on the sawdust-covered dirt floor. A mouse charges across the floor and knocks down a tiny man to grab a crumb. The man shakes his fist. He looks to be yelling at the mouse but you are too far away to hear what he said but you can imagine.
The mouse freezes. You laugh when the tiny man strikes a proud pose when the mouse runs away to a hole in the distant wall. Movement catches your eyes and you turn away from the tiny man for a look.

A fat cat, looking monstrously huge at your tiny size, walks away from the stack of ale kegs. It steps out into the taproom. Looking this way and that, it sniffs the air. Letting out a happy mew, the cat heads for your table!
You hold very still, not daring to move as the fat cat seems to be staring up at your table rather your chair. With a great leap, the cat launches itself onto your table. Purring, the fat cat begins to eat the stew.
Relieved, you are none the less worried it could decide to give up the stew and come eat you. You make your way to the back of your chair and climb down a leg to the floor. GO TO 9

13) Puma

"No, Puma! Bad Kitty!" the serving girl yells. The cat stops and stares at her.
"Cat! Run!" Someone shouts from under a chair. The cat turns to look. Roll The Dice
You Rolled A 1-5

As you wonder if this is a good time to sneak away, the cat turns back to you and the serving girl. It snatches you up in its mouth and makes a meal of you.

You Rolled A 6 - 15

You and the serving girl try to sneak away from Puma. Somehow sensing your movements, the cat pounces. It catches the serving girl. You stab at the cat but it ignores you and runs off with her as it would a mouse. At that grisly thought, you remember the mouse from earlier running into a hole in the wall. You look about until you see the hole there in the far wall. It is your only hope and you run for it. GO TO 2

You Rolled A 16 - 20

Puma pounces at the poor unfortunately soul under the chair, catching them as easily as it would a mouse. At that grisly thought, your remember the mouse from earlier running into a hole in the wall. As the person screams their last, you look about until you see the hole there in the far wall.
"Run to the mouse hole!" you yell at the terrified serving girl. "It's our only hope!" GO TO 4

14) Pint

Try as you might to fend off a reaching paw with your sword, a claw sinks into your arm. You are dragged out of pint. With a terrible crushing bite, the cat kills you.

You Rolled A 10-20

Try as you might to fend off a reaching paw with your sword, a claw sinks into the man beside you. He screams as he is dragged out of the pint. With a terrible crushing bite, the cat kills the man.
With the cat distracted with its meal, you crawl out of the pint.
Do you run after the serving girl? (GO TO 11)
Do you run for the mouse hole? (GO TO 2)

You run over to the pint the three men are fighting over and crawl inside.
"Hey!" one of the men protests. He tries to grab you, but you manage to crawl all the way to the bottom. The other two stop fighting and start yelling until you draw your sword.
"There's room for one more in here. Who'll it be?" you ask.
The first man who tried to grab you jumps in. The other two reach for him and one of them manages to grab his leg. With your free hand, you grab the man's shirt and pull him deeper into the pint.
"Cat's comin'!" the third man yells and runs away. The second man lets go of the fellow's leg and runs after the third man.
The lucky man in the pint sits next to you just in time for you both to see a cat peer in. Roll The DIce
