Sheriff

Those to whom the Sovereign gives authority must be obeyed absolutely. They are issued Holy Writs of Authority that dictate the extent of their domain and power and are signed with the Arcane Seal of the Sovereign Himself.

Sheriffs will be provided a 500 gp/month salary from the treasury of the Master they serve.
Sheriffs enforce the laws of their Masters, and by extension, enforce the will of the Sovereign.
Sheriffs only have authority in the domain(s) maintained by their Master.
Sheriffs may recruit, maintain, and equip any organization they deem necessary to perform their duties, including but not limited to guards, security, tolls, checkpoints, mercenaries, scouts, or officers.
The position of Sheriff is beholden to the will of their Master.

Appointment

Sheriffs are chosen by a Master. There is no limit to the number of Sheriffs a Master may employ.

Every Sheriff must be approved by the Sovereign. If approved, their Master will issue their own Writ of Authority, which will be sealed by the Sovereign as well.

+1 trait bonus to attack while within their domain. +10-ft enhancement bonus to speed as Sheriffs may be called upon to chase down heretics and criminals.
