The History of Pandemonium so far
The gods once walked the earth and ruled over its people. They intermingled the bloodlines and crafted items of great power. They lived in floating cities anchored to mountains or flying free across the seas. When they left this plane of existence and took their power with them, all those islands came tumbling down.
The descendants of the gods were the Aeonians. Their blood carried great power, and they used that power to subjugate nature and build expansive empires. As their bloodlines were diluted their empires crumbled to dust. But their skills live on in sacred texts hidden from the common man.
Current Species & Cultures
The Arres people cover the vast majority of this corner of the continent. They have Dukedoms and Counties spread from sea to sea, unified by their cultural similarities and religious beliefs. Most Aeoneans came from their blood.
The Einjar inhabit the mountains to the north and come from the far east, across a volcanic wasteland. They are giants who tend flocks of sheep and goats.
The Mauri came from across the sea, on the southern continent, and settled on fertile land. They built an economic empire on agricultural trade. Smaller in stature than the Arres, they pose little physical threat.
The Murasan are cavern dwelling nomads, far removed from their homeland. They subsist on trade and raiding, and are commonly mistaken for the mythical Flujsa.
Needs & Relations
The Arres are mostly farmers, fishermen, and woodsmen, medium height and build with fair eyes and complexion. They view the Einjar as giants and barbarians, but they trade with them for silver, wool, dairy, root and tuber vegetables, and mead. The Mauri are looked upon with disdain. Small and weak, their mischievous ways cannot be trusted. Murasan are a nuisance to be exterminated, but they'll take their grains and wine whenever possible.
The Einjar are farmers, herdsmen, woodsmen, and miners. They tower over other people with milky white skin, blue or green eyes, and reddish blonde hair. They view the Arres as destructive children who need to be shown the ways of being one with nature. Some of them have even gone out to join them and spread their culture and wisdom in their daily lives. The Mauri are viewed as more grown than the Arres, though small and sneaky. They have little interaction and mostly hear of them through trade routes. Murasan are pests, but they have unique goods to trade.
The Mauri are farmers, fishermen, and sailors with an acumen for trade and banking. They made the mistake of letting profit blind them to the rising unrest of the Arres. Small and lean of stature, with dark features, hair, and eyes they are better suited for their native warmer climate. They view the Arres as ungrateful thieves oppressing them for their greater intellect. They view the Einjar as behemoths from legends come to life, but as good and humble. They don't understand how they can deal with the Arres. Murasan are much like them, a foreign people in a strange land. But they squabble over land and raid each other.
The Murasan are a subterranean people small and limber, they have light eyes and complexion with dark hair. Very militant in everything they do, they seek perfection in their craft whatever it may be. They have few resources so they must resort to stealing what they need, as the native Arres of this land are greedy and hateful, they refuse to share with any not like themselves. The Einjar have shown themselves to be more amenable than the Arres. The Mauri are oppressed by the Arres and should take back what is theirs.
