The Path of Illumination
From the time Gillespie was a page he kept a journal. At first it was to practice his writing, but over time it became more. He documented his military training, his induction into the summoner clans, mixing the teachings of both, and all the adventures he had. There is even a tactical breakdown from his time fighting in Churmaru Une, and later Bra Krig. In short this series of books documents one mans journey on the path to enlightenment.
Purpose
Gillespie took notes as he learned the secrets of opening and empowering his vita points, and then of stitching threads of vita through them. He documented his adventures into the wilds and the brands of the creatures he met. He also left detailed instructions for manufacturing the tools he used to survive his ordeals. Now that journal is used to spread his knowledge to the Sartrix fellowships.
Document Structure
Clauses
The beginning chronicles Gillespies training in both martial and vital arts. Followed by his attempts to reconcile the two. Following these practical lessons are stories of individual journeys to subjugate beasts, verdure, and even lares. With lists of their brands and capabilities as well as what it took to subdue them. Next is a description of his participation in several large scale battles between such powerful beings. Intricately detailed diagrams of the vita points and their inherent abilities follow, as well as his attempts to create artificial vita points. What didn't work, and what eventually did. The next chapter is about his attempts to contain a patch in physical form for later use. With a list of patches he managed to secure. Next is a chapter chronicling his attempts to teleport to search for divine relics he was sure had to exist. And his theories on how it might work. Then an overview of his ritual to cross the planar boundaries, along with what he found waiting for him on the other side. Several adventures amongst what can only be described as gods are detailed, and the end implies there was more. But he sent his journals home with an envoy with a message that he'd be out in the vastness waiting.
Publication Status
The original books are closely guarded by the Church of the Great Mother and a hand written copy is kept in Banupte by the Fellowship of Gillespie. They use it to teach Sartrix the art of stitching patches to the weave. All new students must write their own personal copy that they carry with them on their journeys.
Historical Details
Background
Brought back from Vosculhu by the Alfsir and given to Gillespies people, these books return marked the day that man learned that the gods were real. And that they had left this world behind. But now they would be taking a more active role in the preserving of human souls.
Legacy
The original books are considered a treasure, and rival religious organizations vie for control of them.
