Revolution
Seeing the creation of the Republic of Samaria, the desire for independence grew in Sidon. The local populace began arming, which worried the Weswalandian Emperor. He feared that quelling a rebellion on Espiria would split his army for too long and also lead to further armed conflicts. The noble families of Sidon were given some power from the emperor, but they did not get control of much. One such noble, Lord Tiberius Atrius Meminius, decided to attempt to use the situation to his advantage. He sent a letter to the emperor stating that if he is given the funds to hire The Crimson Company for a year in order to maintain order and prevent a rebellion. The emperor agreed, and set in motion what would make Lord Meminius a king.
The emperor sent over The Crimson Company along with 1000 soldiers. Lord Meminius could see the emperor's hesitation, but knew that this was his chance. Lord Meminius offered Captain Marceneus he would pay the company twice what was offered by the emperor as well as a massive estate in Sidon. Being the avaricious man he was, Marceneus agreed. Even though Meminius had only 600 professional soldiers, he decided now was the time. Meminius had his sister start riling up the populace, informing her that she was to attempt to rally them into a fighting force, somehow, when the fighting started. As the discourse in the city built, and turned sour, he saw his chance. Leading up to this, Meminius had been arming himself. He had a banner made to take into battle, bought plate armor, and bought a sword and shield from The Crimson Company when they arrived. He rode out at the front of The Crimson Company, banner flying, to the 500 soldiers dispatched to manage the largest portion of the discourse. When they arrived, he unsheathed his sword, shouted "For Sidon!" and ordered a charge into the Weswalandian force. With the force divided, and his attack unexpected, the rebellion did not take long. By the end of the day, the Weswalandian forces were defeated (613 dead, 387 captured) and Meminius had declared himself King of Sidonia.
