Tympa

The equator is harsh on Pallo. The Boiling Ocean makes travel difficult for many and is the main reson for the relative isolation of many civilizations. One continent crosses the equator. It is bleached, cracked, and unforgiving. Its resources are deep underground and the main reason anyone lives there is to be a part of trade networks. At the southern coast lies a city-state that has thrived in the craggy salt flats.

Structure

Though it is a very large city, boasting around 3 million inhabitants, it maintains a simple government. The head of state, the chancellor, is an elected official who serves ten-year terms. The chancellor is supported by a cabinet of advisors in a variety of specialized fields, each of whom have staff who help reach out to the populace of Tympa. Beneath the cabinet are the three houses who manage the laws and licenses: House of Commons, House of Lords, and House of Treaties.
The House of Commons (HoC) is made up of elected officials to represent the people of the districts of Tympa and is responsible for proposing laws and bringing up local issues or concerns to be addressed.
The House of Lords (HoL) is made up of elected officials from the aristocracy. Largely symbolic in the current day, they yield little actual power, though frequently work as a check between the HoC and the cabinet of the Chancellor.
The House of Treaties (HoT) is made up of officials chosen by the HoC to handle foreign agreements. Trade companies frequent the halls of the HoT trying to secure agreements and potentially find better deals. Due to proximity and long standing agreements, Aghreb has been given a permanent seat on the council. One representative is not much, but it keeps communication between these two crucial parts of a massive trade network open.
