Scale rot
Transmission & Vectors
Can be contracted through contact with stagnant water or briskilisk secretions.
Causes
Lack of hygiene or excessive amounts of the bacteria transmitted from source.
Symptoms
First signs are itchiness and pale scales. As it worsens, scales begin to crack, flake, and/or weaken. Extreme cases can see scales falling off, leaving bleeding sores.
Treatment
For domestic cases, there are special soaps that can be used to clean your Dracowolf. In severe cases, ointments and healing balms can be applied to sores. Weakened scales will eventually recover their hardness. Through observation of wild dracowolves, if it is contracted through direct contact with a briskilisk, there is a special moss that can be rubbed on the affected areas to ease itchiness and prevent it from spreading.
Prognosis
The condition itself is not fatal, but very rarely there can be complications due to sores and bleeding where other diseases can be fatal. Because it weakens scales, it takes away a major defense, which makes them more vulnerable to predators and other threats.
