Quartz Castle
The first line of defense against the Madranian forces. The river that runs from the Great Espirian Mountains to the Heron Ocean was dug by the engineers building the castle. With the river and the castle, the southern border has been secured against Madranian attacks.

History
After its construction, a manmade river was constructed that runs from the Great Espirian Mountains to the Heron Ocean. A great causeway was constructed to span the river where the castle stands. That causeway has been the site of several battles.
The Garrison at Quartz Castle is often deployed to confront Madranian forces attempting to ford the river or construct temporary bridges. Two great battles have been fought in the region. The first was the Battle of Quartz Castle. There, 5,000 Samaritan soldiers managed to defeat 25,000 Madranian soldiers. The sturdiness of the fortifications caught the Madranians by surprise and the inability to easily maneuver their forces into better positions cost them 17,000 soldiers and gained them a bitter defeat.
