Humerus

The secret ingredient to the Golden Harpy's success

Dracolyte Gregory Tanner (a.k.a. Humerus)

Many people hate the Madranian Empire, but few more than Humerus. His goal is to undo the damage and curses brought upon Dracolia by the Madranians. His ironic name is the only thing that has made him chuckle in a long time, and uses that spark of joy to give a little extra life to the skeletons he controls.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Immaciated and haggard - he looks like a walking corpse. It's clear that his focus on his studies and magic have made him neglect many aspects of self care. It is good that there are cleanse bars on board to keep him clean, otherwise he would smell worse than he looks.

Facial Features

If you make eye contact with him for too long you may get the sensation of being pulled into a void. His piercing, unflinching, unblinking gaze is mezmorizing.

Personal history

He was born during a tumultuous time coupled with cultural change. His parents were members of the Congress of Dracolia. This was a new paradigm for life on Dracolia. Living amongst diplomats, champions, and Draconi meant he had a very studious and politically aware. The War of the Seven Tribes  was not long before he was born, and the tensions between Dracolians and Espirians was still tense. Proximity to Drakenholt also meant that he was able to seek training and mentorship from members of the Drakriddare.   Humerus prefered to stay only in Alliance or Drakenholt, studying magic and tactics from his elders. Ever weary of the colonizers who remained, he kept a distant watch over those areas of Dracolia. He found a familiar, an owl he named Pico. He had a fondness for owls and enjoyed its company.   Soon after his parents died, so too did Pico. As if timing couldn't get any worse, this was when Arkus began his attack on the world. Alone, devastated, and angry, he hid. Not knowing what would soon happen, and not being much of a warrior, he tried to use his talents to aid his fellow Dracolians from a distance. He found a new familiar, another owl that he named Friend. He hid in the mountains, using Friend to meet with other Dracolians and spread information. He watched from afar during the Celestial Intervention and witnessed the implosion of Arkus' power.   He cautiously approached the citadel. He could see the scattered corpses of thousands of people. What surprised him the most was the small gathering of 50 or so goblins who were spared. Each of them were still shivering in fear. He approached them and they all jumped and scattered, freightened by him. One was not able to fully escape and begged for mercy. Humerus spoke to him and learned that his name was Hek. He learned that one of the unicorns spared many of his tribe and offered them power. In return, it expected them to go out and heal much of the damage caused by Arkus and put good into the world. He also told Humerus about the horrid curse that befell Maxam.   The two set off to Maxam to observe the curse. Humerus was horrified to see that Maxam was turned into an undead metropolis. Hek couldn't bear being in proximity to the city so Humerus let him leave to begin his journey and thanked him for his aid. Humerus spent years studying the magic and curses that afflict the ruined city. Besides ghouls, zombies, wights, and other undead creatures, periodically Madrane would send forces to recapture gold, goods, or land. Though cursed, Maxam seemed to be a favorite spot for the Madranian navy to go to.   Humerus did not engage with Madranians when they came, but noticed that a ship kept engaging them not too far off. He doesn't know what to this day, but something drove him to seek out that ship. He was impressed with Baron von Hafn and the crew of the Golden Harpy. Realizing this could be his opportunity to gain the power he needed to cleanse some of his homeland, and help someone annoy the Madranians, Humerus requested to join the crew. His skill and knowledge with necromancy gave the Golden Harpy something it desperately needed - a larger crew that could take on the tasks of sailing. Baron had managed to get by with handful of skilled crew and a keen mind, but now he had a full crew and could fully utilize the Harpy.
