Harmonic Tides Resort
Part guild hall, part resort. The Harmonic Tides Resort is the main source of revenue for Old Ashton. Serving as a luxury hotel, The Harmonic Hotel offers a wide variety of amenities meant for comfort and relaxation. It also contains facilities specialized towards adventurers, mercenaries and other Adventuring Groups who use Old Ashton as a central base of operations for their expeditions.
Purpose / Function
Mukaga originally built The Harmonic Tides Sanctuary to begin forming The Vircook Isles as a safe haven for adventurers to operate out of, a place where historians could stay and study the remains of the demonic invasion. Over time however, the Resort started to become known for its beautiful environment, attracting rich tourists seeking to just enjoy the scenery and environment.
To fulfill their desires, Mukaga began making accommodations for these tourists, which eventually turned the sanctuary into a resort.
Alterations
The Harmonic Tide Sanctuary began more akin to a tavern, with a small collection of cottages that adventurers could rent out to serve as bases. It was simple but effective for the common adventurer or mercenary who wanted to get away from the prying eye in a protected, neutral territory. As more refined tourists and visitors began coming to the Isles however, changes and alterations were needed to accommodate their more refined tastes.
It began with sectioning off the resort from the rest of the Isles. This was accomplished with a rather simple wall, which over time was converted to a hedge to prevent wildlife from wandering into the area. After that, a large building was constructed to accommodate the rich, to seperate them from the common adventurers. This building would eventually be turned into the reception of the hotel, with the restaurant being added shortly after.
When complaints came in about the Resort not feeling authentic however, it became a more open air design. Rather than a large building with multiple rooms for guests within, instead the cottages across the premises served as the rooms. Various cabanas and pools built around the courtyard with the different amenities available.
Architecture
While the structure of the Harmonic Tides Resort is built with durable wood imported from the Nokolow Wood to withstand the weather, the interior and exterior appears to be solely built with locally sourced materials available from the Vircook Isles. Palm wood walls reinforced by Bamboo Sandwiched the Mighty Oak to make it seem natural, while smoothed coral stone salvaged from the coral reefs damaged by the invasion was used for flooring. The Island Guardian’s influence on the weather prevents the erosion of the materials, allowing the normally delicate materials to last for extended periods of time.
The resort itself is largely open air, with large hedges surrounding the property. The resort consists of one large building that contains the reception, the world famous restaurant, The Siren’s Feast, as well as a few private meeting rooms meant for adventurers or guilds to rent out for gatherings and celebrations with catering.
From the Reception, you exit out into the Grand Plaza, which is a large courtyard with flora and fauna. Above is tinted glass to keep the resort comfortable. Across the courtyard are smaller buildings to possess the different amenities that the Resort offers. Surrounding the courtyard on the outskirts are the housing and cabanas. Off the coast are also some houseboats that tourists can rent to stay in as well, along with docks and rental boats.
Tourism
People come to The Harmonic Tides resorts for different reasons, either to relax at the resort, explore the depths of the ocean, or to spend hard earned coins from various exploits done across Pallet. Many luxuries are available within the premises of the Resort.
