Darktusk Estate
The Darktusk Estate is the home of the Darktusk Family, one of two Orcish families at the Noble Court. It is the furthest East of the estates in the Noble District.
Design
The Darktusk visual aesthetic favours images of sturdiness and being unyielding. Everything is larger and chunkier than necessary and the architecture is squat are sqaure.General squat squareness of architecture. Everything is larger and chunkier than it needs to be.
The walls of the Darktusk estate are lined with traditional painted animal hide tapestries and statues of stone and bone line the hallways. Symbology on the tapestries include a symbol of four sickles in a cross and few of the tapestries have a recurring yellow eye symbol around their border.
There are also painted animal hide tapestries of previous Darktusk Viziers. One of the painted Viziers has a brand of an upside down five-pointed star on his arm, which can be seen because the sleeve of his army uniform has been torn.
Although the House of Darktusk are not Termagans, there are some tapestries that obliquely reference the symbology of that religion. There are orcish war elephants depicted in Termagant's purple and the painters were clearly aware enough of the Iron Sultan(a) to know how and when to use Her or His imagery appropriately.
There is also lots of Thievian and Soldierite imagery. All of the metal in the main house is black and gunmetal, and it is clear that, unlike in many of the other non-human households, the Eight are actually truely venerated by House Darktusk.
The Hareem Quarters
Within the Darktusk Estate is an area designed for the female family members, servants and concubines. This area is decorated with stone carvings of fig trees, fruit and flowers that do not show up elsewhere in the estate. The group of live-in concubines who once inhabited this area no longer live at the estate, and many of the rooms have been repurposed into general servant quarters. When she lived at the estate, Subviziera Quince Darktusk-Carterhold had her own private quarters that were mostly decorated with fig flower carvings and had the copper metal of her birth family's deity, the Poor Man. By contrast, the nursery for baby Gast was decorated with the fig fruit rather than flowers. As well as the Subviziera's private drawing rooms and the nursery, there are a series of rooms that possibly belonged to Jafar's Viziera but are now permanently closed up and caked in dust. This area also focused on the fig fruit imagery over the flowery imagery of the rest of the female quarters.Architecture
Older than any of the human estates, the Darktusk Estate extends further down into the city. The higher, more recently built areas of the estate emulate a more human aesthetic, but there is still a distinctly imposing orcish influence. The brutalist towers are imposing squared off constructs of dark stone, decorated various places with outposts resembling tusks. Above the gate to the front entrance is an intimdating stone carving of an orcish skull.
