Babylon Berryld became Brer aged fifty-four having survived the Apocalypse of the Final Shot. Unlike his fellow Brers, the spare Raphael Briar and four-year-old Hyle Rosa, Babylon was ready to become Brer, his predecessor already being seventy-four when he died in the Apocalypse, and had been trained for the position his whole life.
Babylon orchestrated the plan to remove Elma Hopper from the Bramble Matriarchy and install nineteen-year-old, non-oracular Petronella Carrottops as Matriarch in her place.

At will Brer Babylon could cast Detect Chaos, Detect Evil, Detect Good, Detect Law and Discern Lies as spell-like abilities due to being an Inquisitor. He could also cast Know Direction a spell-like ability due to his Nature Magic feat and as a Green Faith Marshal (level 11), he could cast Commune With Nature as a spell-like ability once per week.
