Astrali

Basic Information

Anatomy

Astrali are small beings, with iridescent skin that shimmers in the dark, looking like a galaxy in the sky. They have two arms, two legs and are plantigrades, walking on the soles of their feet, with their toes and soles flat on the ground. They have three toes on each foot and three fingers and one thumb on their hands.
Astrali also have a pair of wings that fold out, looking like a set of dragonfly wings.

Biological Traits

The various sub-species of Astrali are dependant on the heavans and night sky above, with the major presence in the sky at the time of the Astrali's birth, affecting what type of Astrali is born. Leading too parents having a child of a completely different sub-species than either of them.
The three constellations that affect Astrali births are Eliana, Tridacna and Limulidae. Eliana is often most present in the early months of the year, and is a collection of 8 stars in the shape of a nautilus shell. Tridacna is most present in the middle months of the year, and is a collection of 12 stars, creating four triangles in the sky, sat inside one another getting smaller and smaller. Limulidae is most present in the later months of the year, and is the smallest constellation, being only a collection of 5 stars, in the shape of a sword. Each of the constellations are named after Gods of Udosix, Eliana, God of Music and the Ocean, Tridacna, Goddess of Poetry and Art, and Limulidae, God of War and Feasts.

Eliana

Eliana have a pale blue colour to their skins, at night glowing in colours of various shades of blue and green. Their sclera are a deep navy blue, and their wings a pastel green/blue.

Tridacna

Tridacna have a vibrant yellow and orange colour to their skins, at night glowing in colours of various shades of warm golds, oranges and reds. Their sclera are pure black, and their wings a shimmering golden hue.

Limulidae

Limulidae have a silvery white hue to their skins, at night glowing in colours of various shades of purple and pink. Their sclera are a deep royal purple, and their wings a translucent pink.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

Astrali have round faces, with large round eyes, with sclera that are either pure purple, navy or black depending on the sub-species. Instead of defined pupils and irises instead the centre of the eye bursts out with in colour like a firework. They have small flat nose's and thin lips and mouthes.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Astrali are originally from the Astral Sea, their true home unknown, but those who have settled on Oxdara have chosen Udosix as their home.

Civilization and Culture

History

The Astrali are originally travellers from the Astral Sea, the inbetween space between the planes of existance filled with all maner of travellers and dangers not found on the material plane. The Astrali's home is unknown, however those who have settled on Oxdara have chosen to settle in Udosix.
Their inhabbitants of Oxdara did not come without strife however, though they chose the best place to settle, Udosix being far more welcoming of Extra-Planar people settling in their lands than other contients. The strife came from their arrivial, a large ship filled with Astrali crashing into Manni Isle, which at the time was inhabbited by the Gyst Braˈrro nation of Xestren, creating a large crater. Though the crash happened in the wilds, far away from any Xestren city, the resulting earthquakes did cause damage and fear for the Xestren people. Rallying around the crater to see what had landed, thinking it originally to be a star or meteor, the Xestren saw the Astrali, strange alien beings, speaking in an unknown tounge, and - as common for mortal beings - treated them with fear and hostility.
It was only with the intervention of Astralix, a Golden Greatwyrm Dragon did the Xestren stand down. Astralix seemingly able to communicate fluently with the visitors, and acted as a mediator between the two people. Tensions remained for a while, as the Astrali learnt Draconic to communicate with their new neighbors, but both sides began engaging in equal exchange of information and technology, developing both peoples understanding of science and magic.
The Astrali who landed chose to take a new name, with reverence of their mediator, naming themselves after him.
