Malkavian bloodline

An Ekon bloodline, Malkavians have what they call the 'Gift of Insight', but what most others call 'batshit crazy.' They perceive things in the world that others do not, and are driven mad by it. All Malkavians have at least one mental disorder, and they don't tend to seek help or deal with them well. Malkavians also have the ability to share their madness with the weak-minded. They are not visible by any means other than the naked eye; mirrors, cameras and the like cannot show Malkavians. Some powerful malkavians can also even hide themselves from the naked eye.

Naming Traditions

Other names

Long-winded or symbolic names are common for Malkavians. They will also often come up with such names for others, seemingly oblivious to their actual names.

Culture

Common Etiquette rules

Malkavians treat the madness of others with the highest dignity, and will roll with problems associated with mental illness, be it by hiding under a blanket and whispering to someone with paranoid schizophrenia, or bringing sustenance and cleaning up after someone with depression.

Art & Architecture

Malkavians often express themselves through art. Abstract art and expressionism have been popular amongst Malkavians for far longer than humans. Famous Malkavian artists include: Shutters, who was known for giving objects human faces, and giving people objects for faces in his paintings. The Queen of Rocks made and painted sculptures with grabbing hands and gaping mouths just about everywhere but where they belong on a person. Blank made more minimalist sculptures with empty eyes and mouths showing the trinket inside the hollow head.

Funerary and Memorial customs

Malkavians have funerals unique to the deceased, with rituals and rites they feel best respect and encapsulate the person. The War Songstel's funeral, for example, was held on an old battlefield with a full orchestra playing an ode to him, ending it by destroying their instruments and burying them with him.

Historical figures

Agramant Coupart, founder of the Providence of Quebec was one of, if not the, most politically powerful Malkavian.  The Herald of the Invisible was also politically active, campaigning for rights of the mentally ill in both human and vampire circles.

Ideals

Relationship Ideals

IRON FOR THE IRON GOD, BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GODS, SPEAK ONLY THE TRUTH TO STAVE OFF THE END OF ENDS.

Major organizations

Malkavians tend to view INSSO as nosy and prying. They generally aren't aggressive to INSSO scientists, but are rarely cooperative.
